A - What The Maker's Manual says -
Jesus - the Way (New Testament)
Matthew 3 : 3 ( Mark 1 : 1 ) - The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. And in those days comes John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, saying, Repent ; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Matthew 11 : 7 - And as these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind? But what went you out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft raiment are in king's houses. But wherefore went you out? to see a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Who shall prepare your way before you. Verily I say to you, Among them that are born of women there has not arisen a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
John 1 : 15 - John bears witness of him, and cries, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that comes after me is become before me: for he was before me. For of his fulness we all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
John 1 : 19 - And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent to him from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who are you? And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you the prophet? And he answered, No. They said therefore to him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What say you of yourself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet. And they had been sent from the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said to him, Why then baptize you, if you art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet? John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: in the midst of you stands one whom you know not, even he that comes after me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose. These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
John 9 : 26 - They said therefore to him, What did he to you? How opened he your eyes? He answered them, I told you even now, and you did not hear; wherefore would you hear it again? would you also become his disciples? And they reviled him, and said, You are his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses. We know that God has spoken to Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is. The man answered and said to them, Why, herein is the marvel, that you know not whence he is, and yet he opened mine eyes. We know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and do his will, him he hears. Since the world began it was never heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing. They answered and said to him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out. Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said, Do you believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him? Jesus said to him, You have both seen him, and he it is that speaks with you. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
John 11 : 33 - When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, and said, Where have you laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him! But some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him that was blind, have caused that this man also should not die? Jesus therefore again groaning in himself came to the tomb.
John 14 : 2 .... I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And whither I go, you know the way. Thomas said to him, Lord, we know not whither you go; how know we the way? Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by me.
John 14 : 18 . I will not leave you desolate: I come to you. Yet a little while, and the world beholds me no more; but you behold me: because I live, you shall live also. In that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Acts 9 : 1 - But Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, and asked of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any that were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, it came to pass that he drew nigh to Damascus: and suddenly there shone round about him a light out of heaven: and he fell upon the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecute you me? And he said, Who are you, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom you persecute: but rise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told you what you must do. And the men that journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but beholding no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing; and they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and did neither eat nor drink.
Acts 24 : 22 - But Felix, having more exact knowledge concerning the Way, deferred them, saying, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will determine your matter. And he gave order to the centurion that he should be kept in charge, and should have indulgence; and not to forbid any of his friends to minister to him. But after certain days, Felix came with Drusilla, his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus. And as he reasoned of righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, Go your way for this time; and when I have a convenient season, I will call you to me. He hoped withal that money would be given him of Paul: wherefore also he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
Romans 5 : 1 - Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Ephesians 2 : 17 .... he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh: for through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no more strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone; in whom each several building, fitly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
3 : 11 - to the intent that now to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,
Ephesians 3 : 15 - For this cause I bow my knees to the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fulness of God.
Philippians 1 : 6 - I thank my God upon all my remembrance of you, always in every supplication of mine on behalf of you all making my supplication with joy, for your fellowship in furtherance of the gospel from the first day until now; being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 2 : 5 - For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all; the testimony to be borne in its own times; whereto I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Hebrews 2 : 14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like to his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Hebrews 4 : 14 - Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that has been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need.
Hebrews 10 : 19 - Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised:
Jesus - the Way (Old Testament)
Deuteronomy 1 : 8 - These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab. (There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.) And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all that the LORD had given him in commandment to them; After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei: On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying, The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and to all the places nigh thereto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and to Lebanon, to the great river, the river Euphrates. Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them
Isaiah 40 : 3 - The voice of one that cries, Prepare in the wilderness the way of Jehovah; make level in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain: and the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken it.
Following, Imitating (New Testament)
Matthew 16 : 24 - Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever would save his life shall lose it: and whoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render to every man according to his deeds. Verily I say to you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Luke 14 : 25 - Now there went with him great multitudes: and he turned, and said to them, If any man comes to me, and hates not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Whosoever does not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have wherewith to complete it? Lest haply, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an ambassage, and asks conditions of peace. So therefore whoever he be of you that renounces not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
Romans 6 : 16 - Know you not, that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were servants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereto you were delivered; and being made free from sin, you became servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to iniquity to iniquity, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness to sanctification. For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard of righteousness. What fruit then had you at that time in the things whereof you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, you have your fruit to sanctification, and the end eternal life.
1 Corinthians 4 : 15 - For though you have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet have you not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begot you through the gospel. I beseech you therefore, be you imitators of me. For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church.
1 Corinthians 11 : 1 - Be you imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you that you remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.
Galatians 2 : 20 - I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
Galatians 5 : 24 - And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof. If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk. Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 6 : 14 - But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. Henceforth, let no man trouble me; for I bear branded on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.
Ephesians 5 : 1 - Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.
Philippians 3 : 15 - Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything you are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal to you: only, whereto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.
Philippians 3 : 17 - Brethren, be you imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as you have us for an ensample. For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things to himself.
Colossians 2 : 20 - If you died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, Handle not, nor taste, nor touch (all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but are not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
1 Thessalonians 1 : 6 - And you became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit; so that you became an ensample to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia. For from you has sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything. For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had to you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 2 : 14 - For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus: for you also suffered the same things of your own countrymen, even as they did of the Jews; who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove out us, and pleased not God, and are contrary to all men; forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always: but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
2 Timothy 2 : 11 - Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him: if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we shall deny him, he also will deny us: if we are faithless, he abides faithful; for he cannot deny himself.
Hebrews 6 : 12 - And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fulness of hope even to the end: that you be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Following, Imitating (Old Testament)
Psalm 118 : 14 - Jehovah is my strength and song; And he is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous: The right hand of Jehovah does valiantly. The right hand of Jehovah is exalted: The right hand of Jehovah does valiantly. I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of Jehovah. Jehovah has chastened me sore; But he has not given me over to death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will enter into them, I will give thanks to Jehovah. This is the gate of Jehovah; The righteous shall enter into it. I will give thanks to you; for you have answered me, And are become my salvation.(21)
Jesus - the Suffering Servant-King (New Testament)
Luke 9 : 41 - And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? bring hither your son. And as he was yet a coming, the demon dashed him down, and tore him grievously. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
John 1 : 8 - There was the true light, even the light which lightes every man, coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not. He came to his own, and they that were his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jesus - the Suffering Servant-King (Old Testament)
Isaiah 52 : 13 - Behold, my servant shall deal wisely, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high. Like as many were astonished at you (his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men), so shall he sprinkle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they understand...( Isaiah 53 : 1 ) .... Who has believed our message? and to whom has the arm of Jehovah been revealed? For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Zechariah 12 : 10 - And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look to me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mournes for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart; all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
are many routes from birth to death.
