Forgive - Forgiven (New Testament)

Matthew 18 : 21 - Then came Peter and said to him, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18 : 23 - Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a certain king, who would make a reckoning with his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought to him, that owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not wherewith to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. And the lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay what you owe. So his fellow-servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay that which was due. So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and came and told their lord all that was done. Then his lord called him to him, and said to him, You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you besought me: should not you also have had mercy on your fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on you? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. So shall also my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.

Matthew 6 : 14 - if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Mark 3 : 28 - Verily I say to you, All their sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and their blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but whoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit has never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin: because they said, He has an unclean spirit.

Mark 11 : 25 - And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Luke 5 : 17 - And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal. And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And not finding by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And seeing their faith, he said, Man, your sins are forgiven you. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said to them, Why reason you in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, Your sins are forgiven you; or to say, Arise and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins (he said to him that was palsied), I say to you, Arise, and take up your couch, and go to your house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God. And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.

Luke 7 : 36 - And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment, and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that touches him, that she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to you. And he said, Teacher, say on. A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred shillings, and the other fifty. When they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most? Simon answered and said, He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most. And he said to him, You have rightly judged. And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, See you this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my :feet but she has wetted my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss: but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet . My head with oil you did not anoint: but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgives sins? And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

Luke 17 : 3 - Take heed to yourselves: if your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times turns again to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.

Acts 13 : 38 - Be it known to you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins: and by him every one that believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets: Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which you shall in no wise believe, if one declare it to you. And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath. Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.

Romans 6 : 15 - What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid

Romans 8 : 1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 2 : 5 - But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow, not to me, but in part (that I press not too heavily) to you all. Sufficient to such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the many; so that contrariwise you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow. Wherefore I beseech you to confirm your love toward him. For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether you are obedient in all things. But to whom you forgive anything, I forgive also: for what I also have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes have I forgiven it in the presence of Christ;

Ephesians 4 : 32 - be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.

Hebrews 10 : 30 - For we know him that has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, says the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God

1 John 1 : 9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 5 : 16 - If any man see his brother sinning a sin not to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not to death. We know that whosoever is begotten of God sins not; but he that was begotten of God keeps himself, and the evil one touches him not.

Forgive - Forgiven (Old Testament)

Genesis 50 : 15 - And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did to him. And they sent a message to Joseph, saying, Your father did command before he died, saying, So shall you say to Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the transgression of your brethren, and their sin, for that they did to you evil. And now, we pray you, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we are your servants. And Joseph said to them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? And as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear you not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

Genesis 4 : 24 - And Lamech said to his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; You wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech: For I have slain a man for wounding me, And a young man for bruising me: If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold

Leviticus 4 : 1 - And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying, If any one shall sin unwittingly, in any of the things which Jehovah has commanded not to be done, and shall do any one of them: if the anointed priest shall sin so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer for his sin, which he has sinned, a young bullock without blemish to Jehovah for a sin-offering. And he shall bring the bullock to the door of the tent of meeting before Jehovah; and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the bullock, and kill the bullock before Jehovah. And the anointed priest shall take of the blood of the bullock, and bring it to the tent of meeting: and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before Jehovah, before the veil of the sanctuary. And the priest shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Jehovah, which is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood of the bullock shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting. And all the fat of the bullock of the sin-offering he shall take off from it; the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the loins, and the caul upon the liver, with the kidneys, shall he take away, as it is taken off from the ox of the sacrifice of peace-offerings: and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of burnt-offering. And the skin of the bullock, and all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, and its inwards, and its dung, even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall it be burnt. And if the whole congregation of Israel err, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and are guilty; when the sin wherein they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bullock for a sin-offering, and bring it before the tent of meeting. And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before Jehovah; and the bullock shall be killed before Jehovah. And the anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bullock to the tent of meeting: and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Jehovah, before the veil. And he shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before Jehovah, that is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting. And all the fat thereof shall he take off from it, and burn it upon the altar. Thus shall he do with the bullock; as he did with the bullock of the sin-offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven. And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bullock: it is the sin-offering for the assembly. When a ruler sins, and doeth unwittingly any one of all the things which Jehovah his God hath commanded not to be done, and is guilty; if his sin, wherein he has sinned, be made known to him, he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a male without blemish. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt-offering before Jehovah: it is a sin-offering. And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering. And all the fat thereof shall he burn upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him as concerning his sin, and he shall be forgiven. And if any one of the common people sin unwittingly, in doing any of the things which Jehovah has commanded not to be done, and be guilty; if his sin, which he has sinned, be made known to him, then he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has sinned. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill the sin-offering in the place of burnt-offering.( 30 ) And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar. And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savor to Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. And if he bring a lamb as his oblation for a sin-offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill it for a sin-offering in the place where they kill the burnt-offering. And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar. And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, upon the offerings of Jehovah made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him as touching his sin that he has sinned, and he shall be forgiven. ( 35 End ).

1 Samuel 7 : 1 - And the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of Jehovah, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Jehovah. And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after Jehovah. And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do return to Jehovah with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. Then the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served Jehovah only. And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to Jehovah. And they gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Jehovah, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

1 Samuel 25 : 28 - Forgive, I pray you, the trespass of your handmaid: for Jehovah will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights the battles of Jehovah; and evil shall not be found in you all your days. And though men be risen up to pursue you, and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with Jehovah your God; and the souls of your enemies, them shall he sling out, as from the hollow of a sling. And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you prince over Israel, that this shall be no grief to you, nor offence of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself. And when Jehovah shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember your handmaid. And David said to Abigail, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me: and blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, that have kept me this day from bloodguiltiness, and from avenging myself with my own hand. For in very deed, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, lives, who has withheld me from hurting you, except you had hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal by the morning light so much as one man-child. So David received of her hand that which she had brought him: and he said to her, Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and have accepted your person. ( 35 ).

2 Samuel 14 : 25 - Now in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. And when he cut the hair of his head (now it was at every year’s end that he cut it; because it was heavy on him, therefore he cut it); he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels, after the king’s weight. And to Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance. And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem; and he saw not the king’s face. Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and he sent again a second time, but he would not come. Therefore he said to his servants, See, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom’s servants set the field on fire. Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom to his house, and said to him, Wherefore have your servants set my field on fire? And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come hither, that I may send you to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it were better for me to be there still. Now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there be iniquity in me, let him kill me. So Joab came to the king, and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

2 Samuel 24 : 11 - And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came to the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying, Go and speak to David, Thus says Jehovah, I offer you three things: choose you one of them, that I may do it to tyou. So Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? or shall there be three days’ pestilence in your land? now advise you, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me. And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man. So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men. And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay your hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite. And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let your hand, I pray you, be against me, and against my father’s house.

Psalm 32 : 5 - I acknowledged my sin to you, And my iniquity I did not hide: I said, I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah; And you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Psalm 38 : 1 - A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. O Jehovah, rebuke me not in your wrath; Neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. For your arrows stick fast in me, And your hand presses me sore. There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation; Neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities are gone over my head: As a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds are loathsome and corrupt, Because of my foolishness. I am pained and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. For my loins are filled with burning; And there is no soundness in my flesh. I am faint and sore bruised: I have groaned by reason of the disquietness of my heart. Lord, all my desire is before you; And my groaning is not hid from you. My heart throbs, my strength fails me: As for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me. My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off. They also that seek after my life lay snares for me; And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, And meditate deceits all the day long. But I, as a deaf man, hear not; And I am as a dumb man that opens not his mouth. Yes, I am as a man that hears not, And in whose mouth are no reproofs. For in you, O Jehovah, do I hope: You will answer, O Lord my God. For I said, Lest they rejoice over me: When my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me. For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me. For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. But my enemies are lively, and are strong; And they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. They also that render evil for good Are adversaries to me, because I follow the thing that is good. Forsake me not, O Jehovah: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.

Sweetening the Bitter (New Testament)

Acts 8 : 23 - But Peter said to him, Your silver perish with you, because you have thought to obtain the gift of God with money. You have neither part nor lot in this matter: for your heart is not right before God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of your heart shall be forgiven you. For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. And Simon answered and said, Pray you for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken come upon me.

Romans 3 : 14 - They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that does good, no, not, so much as one: Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit: The poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Ephesians 4 : 31 - Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice: and be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.
Be you therefore imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.

Hebrews 12 : 15 - Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord: looking carefully lest there be any man that falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled;

Revelation 10 : 9 - And I went to the angel, saying to him that he should give me the little book. And he said to me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but in your mouth it shall be sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and when I had eaten it, my belly was made bitter. And they say to me, You must prophesy again over many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.

Sweetening the Bitter (Old Testament)

Ruth 1 : 19 - So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and the women said, Is this Naomi? And she said to them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara; for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and Jehovah has brought me home again empty; why call you me Naomi, seeing Jehovah has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me? So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.

Psalm 73 : 1 - Surely God is good to Israel, Even to such as are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; My steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the arrogant, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no pangs in their death; But their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; Neither are they plagued like other men. Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; Violence covers them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish. They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression: They speak loftily. They have set their mouth in the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth. Therefore his people return hither: And waters of a full cup are drained by them. And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High? Behold, these are the wicked; And, being alway at ease, they increase in riches. Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, And washed my hands in innocency; For all the day long have I been plagued, And chastened every morning.

Psalm 73 : 21 - For my soul was grieved, And I was pricked in my heart: So brutish was I, and ignorant; I was as a beast before you. Nevertheless I am continually with you: You have held my right hand. You will guide me with your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside you. My flesh and my heart fails; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from you shall perish: You have destroyed all them that play the harlot, departing from you. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have made the Lord Jehovah my refuge, That I may tell of all your works.

Psalm 78 : 40 - How often did they rebel against him in the wilderness, And grieve him in the desert! And they turned again and tempted God, And provoked the Holy One of Israel. They remember not his hand, Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary; How he set his signs in Egypt, And his wonders in the field of Zoan, And turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink. He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; And frogs, which destroyed them. He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, And their labor to the locust. He destroyed their vines with hail, And their sycomore-trees with frost. He gave over their cattle also to the hail, And their flocks to hot thunderbolts. He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, Wrath, and indignation, and trouble, A band of angels of evil. He made a path for his anger; He spared not their soul from death, But gave their life over to the pestilence, And smote all the first-born in Egypt, The chief of their strength in the tents of Ham. But he led forth his own people like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock. And he led them safely, so that they feared not; But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

Proverbs 14 : 10 - The heart knows its own bitterness; And a stranger does not intermeddle with its joy. The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; But the tent of the upright shall flourish. There is a way which seems right to a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; And the end of mirth is heaviness. The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And a good man shall be satisfied from himself ( 14 ).

Ezekiel 3 : 1 - And he said to me, Son of man, eat that which you find; eat this roll, and go, speak to the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the roll. And he said to me, Son of man, cause your belly to eat, and fill your bowels with this roll that I give you. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said to me, Son of man, go, get you to the house of Israel, and speak with my words to them. For you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel; not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, if I sent you to them, they would hearken to you. But the house of Israel will not hearken to you; for they will not hearken to me: for all the house of Israel are of hard forehead and of a stiff heart. Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made your forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. Moreover he said to me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears. And go, get you to them of the captivity, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Jehovah; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place. And I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, even the noise of a great rushing. So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me. ( 15 ) Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and to where they dwelt; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.
