A - What The Maker's Manual says -
GigaGuy - The Heart (New Testament)
Luke 6 : 45 - The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. And why call you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Acts 13 : 21 - And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who shall do all my will. Of this man’s seed has God according to promise brought to Israel a Saviour, Jesus;
Romans 7 : 14 - For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I know not: for not what I would, that do I practise; but what I hate, that I do. But if what I would not, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not. For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise. But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Hebrews 4 : 7 - To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.
GigaGuy - The Heart (Old Testament)
1 Samuel 16 : 7 - But Jehovah said to Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for Jehovah sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart. And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely Jehovah’s anointed is before him. Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither has Jehovah chosen this. Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither has Jehovah chosen this. And Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, Jehovah has not chosen these.
Psalm 37 : 30 - The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom, And his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide. The wicked watches the righteous, And seeks to slay him. Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.
Jeremiah 17 : 9 - The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. As the partridge that sits on eggs which she has not laid, so is he that gets riches, and not by right; in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he shall be a fool ( 11 ).
GigaGuy (Old Testament) Whole-Heartedness
Numbers 14 : 24 - but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it, But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereto he went; and his seed shall possess it. (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
1 Chronicles 29 : 17 - I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy your people, that are present here, offer willingly to you.
2 Chronicles 15 : 8 - And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill-country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Jehovah, that was before the porch of Jehovah. And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and them that sojourned with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Jehovah his God was with him. So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. And they sacrificed to Jehovah in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep. And they entered into the covenant to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul; and that whoever would not seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. And they swore to Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Jehovah gave them rest round about. And also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron. But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days. And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels. And there was no more war to the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
1 Samuel 13 : 14 - Jehovah hath sought him a man after his own heart, and Jehovah has appointed him to be prince over his people. because you have not kept that which Jehovah commandedyou. And Samuel arose, and got him up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
Psalm 7 : 9 - For the righteous God tries the minds and hearts. My shield is with God, Who saves the upright in heart.
Psalm 16 : 7 - I will bless Jehovah, who has given me counsel; Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
Psalm 20 : 1 - Jehovah answer you in the day of trouble; The name of the God of Jacob set you up on high; Send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; Remember all your offerings, And accept thy burnt-sacrifice; [Selah] Grant you your heart’s desire, And fulfil all your counsel. We will triumph in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners: Jehovah fulfil all your petitions. Now know I that Jehovah saves his anointed; He will answer him from his holy heaven With the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God. They are bowed down and fallen; But we are risen, and stand upright. Save, Jehovah: Let the King answer us when we call.
Psalm 86 : 11 - Teach me your way, O Jehovah; I will walk in your truth: Unite my heart to fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; And I will glorify your name for evermore.
Psalm 95 : 7 - For he is our God, And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To-day, oh that you would hear his voice! Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness; When your fathers tempted me, Proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways: Wherefore I swore in my wrath, That they should not enter into my rest.
Psalm 119 . 30 - I will run the way of your commandments, When you enlarge my heart. .... Yes, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Proverbs 4 : 23 - Keep your heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 15 : 13 - A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken. The heart of him that has understanding seeks knowledge.
Proverbs 21 : 1 - The king’s heart is in the hand of Jehovah as the watercourses: He turns it whithersoever he will.Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; But Jehovah weighs the hearts. To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice. A high look, and a proud heart, Even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
Conscience (Sense of Right and Wrong) (New Testament)
Romans 2 : 15 - when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law to themselves; in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them
1 Corinthians 8 : 7 - Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak. For if a man see you who have knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? For through your knowledge he that is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died. And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Wherefore, if meat causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.
1 Corinthians 10 : 23 - All things are lawful; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful; but not all things edify. Let no man seek his own, but each his neighbor's good. Whatever is sold in the shambles, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake, for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. If one of them that believe not bids you to a feast, and you are disposed to go; whatever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake. But if any man say to you, This has been offered in sacrifice, eat not, for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake: conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's; for why is my liberty judged by another conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God: even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
2 Corinthians 1 : 12 - For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. For we write no other things to you, than what you read or even acknowledge, and I hope you will acknowledge to the end: as also you did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4 : 1 - Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not: but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
2 Corinthians 5 : 11 - 13 - We are not again commending ourselves to you, but speak as giving you occasion of glorying on our behalf, that you may have wherewith to answer them that glory in appearance, and not in heart. For whether we are beside ourselves, it is to God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is to you.
Galatians 2 : 6 - But from those who were reputed to be somewhat (whatever they were, it makes no matter to me: God accepts not man’s person)--they, I say, who were of repute imparted nothing to me:
9 : 8 ... the Holy Spirit this
signifying, that the way into the holy
place had not yet been made manifest, while the first tabernacle is yet
standing; which is a figure for the time present; according to which are
offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience,
make the worshipper perfect, being only (with meats and drinks and divers
washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.
Hebrews 9 : 11 - But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh: how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 10 : 19 - Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised:
1 John 3 : 20 - because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have boldness toward God; and whatsoever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 Peter 3 : 15 - but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear: having a good conscience; that, wherein you are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.
