A - What The Maker's Manual says -

Happiness - New Testament

Matthew 5 : 1 ( Luke 6 : 20 ) - And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain: and when he had sat down, his disciples came to him: and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you

Luke 2 : 10 - And the angel said to them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 10 : 21 - In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and did reveal them to babes: yes, Father; for so it was well-pleasing inyour sight

John 15 : 9 - Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you: abide you in my love.If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

John 16 : 16 - A little while, and you behold me no more; and again a little while, and you shall see me. Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he says to us, A little while, and you behold me not; and again a little while, and you shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? They said therefore, What is this that he says, A little while? We know not what he says. Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said to them, Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and you behold me not, and again a little while, and you shall see me? Verily, verily, I say to you, that you shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: you shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman when she is in travail has sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world. And you therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes away from you.

John 17 : 13 - But now I come to you; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves. I have given them your word; and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Acts 13 : 53 - And the disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit

Acts 16 : 34 - And he brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God.

2 Corinthians 2 : 1 - But I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you with sorrow. For if I make you sorry, who then is he that makes me glad but he that is made sorry by me? And I wrote this very thing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not that you should be made sorry, but that you might know the love that I have more abundantly to you.

2 Corinthians 9 : 7 - Let each man do according as he has purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.

Philippians 1 : 4 - I thank my God upon all my remembrance of you, always in every supplication of mine on behalf of you all making my supplication with joy

Philippians 4 : 4 - Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.

2 John 12 .... Having many things to write to you, I would not write them with paper and ink: but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that your joy may be made full.

Colossians 1 : 12 - joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love; in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:

1 Thessalonians 2 : 17 - But we, brethren, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence not in heart, endeavored the more exceedingly to see your face with great desire: because we would fain have come to you, I Paul once and again; and Satan hindered us. For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of glorying? Are not even you, before our Lord Jesus at his coming? For you are our glory and our joy.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 16 - Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks

2 Timothy 1 : 4 - I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers in a pure conscience, how unceasing is my remembrance of you in my supplications, night and day longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

Hebrews 12 : 2 - looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

James 1 : 2 - James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are of the Dispersion, greeting. Count it all joy, my brethren, when you fall into manifold temptations; Knowing that the proving of your faith works patience.

1 Peter 1 : 6 - Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials

1 John 1 : 4 - these things we write, that our joy may be made full

Jude 24 - Now unto him that is able to guard you from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish in exceeding joy, to the only God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and power, before all time, and now, and for evermore. Amen.

Happiness - Old Testament

Numbers 6 : 22 - And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, On this wise you shall bless the children of Israel: you shall say to them, Jehovah bless you, and keep you: Jehovah make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you: Jehovah lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. So shall they put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

Deuteronomy 12 : 18 - and you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God in all that you put your hand to

2 Samuel 6 : 1 - And David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, which is called by the Name, even the name of Jehovah of hosts that sits above the cherubim. And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in the hill: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark. And David and all the house of Israel played before Jehovah with all manner of instruments made of fir-wood, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with castanets, and with cymbals ( 6 ) And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. And David was displeased, because Jehovah had broken forth upon Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-uzzah, to this day. And David was afraid of Jehovah that day; and he said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come to me? So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah to him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. And the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and Jehovah blessed Obed-edom, and all his house. And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with joy. And it was so, that, when they that bare the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. And David danced before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

1 Kings 8 : 54 - And it was so, that, when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication to Jehovah, he arose from before the altar of Jehovah, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth toward heaven. And he stood, and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying, Blessed be Jehovah, that has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant. Jehovah our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us; that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers. And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before Jehovah, be nigh to Jehovah our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as every day shall require; that all the peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah, he is God; there is none else. Let your heart therefore be perfect with Jehovah our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.( 61 )

Ezra 6 : 16 - And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy. And they offered at the dedication of this house of God a hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses. And the children of the captivity kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were pure: and they killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. And the children of Israel that were come again out of the captivity, and all such as had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land, to seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, did eat, and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for Jehovah had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Psalm 5 : 11 - But let all those that take refuge in you rejoice, Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: Let them also that love your name be joyful in you. For you will bless the righteous; O Jehovah, you will compass him with favor as with a shield.

Psalm 16 : 11 - You will show me the path of life: In your presence is fulness of joy; In your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 30 : 11 - You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.

Psalm 37 : 7 - Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: Fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself, it tends only to evil-doing. For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Psalm 40 : 4 - Blessed is the man that makes Jehovah his trust, And respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, And your thoughts which are to us-ward; They cannot be set in order to you; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.

Psalm 98 : 1 - Make a joyful noise to Jehovah, all the earth: Break forth and sing for joy, yes, sing praises. Sing praises to Jehovah with the harp; With the harp and the voice of melody. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the King

Psalm 119 : 1 - ALEPH. Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, That seek him with the whole heart.Yes, they do no unrighteousness; They walk in his ways. You have commanded us your precepts, That we should observe them diligently. Oh that my ways were established To observe your statutes! Then shall I not be put to shame, When I have respect to all your commandments. I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, When I learn your righteous judgments. I will observe your statutes: Oh forsake me not utterly. (8)

Proverbs 15 : 13 - A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

Proverbs 17 : 22 - A cheerful heart is good medicine; But a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Genesis 21 : 1 - And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did to Sarah as he had spoken. And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac (Laughter). And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born to him. And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh. Every one that hears will laugh with me. And she said, Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah should give children suck? For I have borne him a son in his old age. And the child grew, and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

Ecclesiastes 11 : 9 - Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know, that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.

Nehemiah 8 :10 .... the joy of Jehovah is your strength.

Isaiah 29 : 17 - Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest? And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. The meek also shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scoffer ceases, and all they that watch for iniquity are cut off; that make a man an offender in his cause, and lay a snare for him that reproves in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought. Therefore thus says Jehovah, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale. But when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name; yes, they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall stand in awe of the God of Israel. They also that err in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmur shall receive instruction.

Habakkuk 3 : 17 - For though the fig-tree shall not flourish, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labor of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Jehovah, the Lord, is my strength. And he makes my feet like hinds’ feet, And will make me to walk upon my high places.
