God The Maker's Word (New Testament )
Matthew 13 : 1 ( Mark 4 : 1, Luke 8 : 4 ) - On that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And there were gathered to him great multitudes, so that he entered into a boat, and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach. And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them: and others fell on the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth: and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them: and others fell on the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty....... Hear then the parable of the sower. When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the evil one, and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side. And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that hears the word, and straightway with joy receives it; yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while; and when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, straightway he stumbles. And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. And he that was sown on the good ground, this is he that hears the word, and understands it; who verily bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
James 1 : 19 - You know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God. Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Luke 3 : 1 - Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, in the highpriesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance to remission of sins
God The Maker's Word (Old Testament )
Genesis 1 : 3 - And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 19 : 12 - And the men said to Lot, Have you here any besides? son-in-law, and your sons, and your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place: for we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxed great before Jehovah; and Jehovah has sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he seemed to his sons-in-law as one that mocked.
Exodus 14 : 15 - And Jehovah said to Moses, Wherefore cry you to me? speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward. And lift you up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground. And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get me honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have gotten me honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud removed from before them, and stood behind them: and it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one came not near the other all the night. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Jehovah caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians. And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for Jehovah fights for them against the Egyptians(25).
Exodus 34 : 1 - And Jehovah said to Moses, Hew you two tables of stone like to the first: and I will write upon the tables the words that were on the first tables, which you broke. And be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mount. And no man shall come up with you; neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount. And he hewed two tables of stone like to the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to mount Sinai, as Jehovah had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables of stone.
Deuteronomy 30 : 11 - For this commandment which I command you this day, it is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil; in that I command you this day to love Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Jehovah your God may bless you in the land whither you go in to possess it.
1 Samuel 3 : 6 - And Jehovah called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know Jehovah, neither was the word of Jehovah yet revealed to him. And Jehovah called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. And Eli perceived that Jehovah had called the child.
1 Samuel 9 : 23 - And Samuel said to the cook, Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, Set it by you. And the cook took up the thigh, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold, that which has been reserved! set it before you and eat; because to the appointed time has it been kept for you, for I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day. (24) And when they were come down from the high place into the city, he communed with Saul upon the housetop. And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, Up, that I may send you away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad. As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand you still first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God. ( 27 End ).
1 Kings 12 : 20 - And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only. And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon. But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying, Thus says Jehovah, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened to the word of Jehovah, and returned and went their way, according to the word of Jehovah ( 24 ).
1 Kings 13 : 7 - And the king said to the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward. And the man of God said to the king, If you will give me half your house, I will not go in with you, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place; for so was it charged me by the word of Jehovah, saying, You shall eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that you came. So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el. Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken to the king, them also they told to their father. And their father said to them, What way went he? Now his sons had seen what way the man of God went, that came from Judah. And he said to his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass; and he rode thereon. And he went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak; and he said to him, Are you the man of God that came from Judah? And he said, I am. Then he said to him, Come home with me, and eat bread. And he said, I may not return with you, nor go in with you; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place: for it was said to me by the word of Jehovah, You shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that you came. And he said to him, I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him. So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water. ( 20 ) And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of Jehovah came to the prophet that brought him back; and he cried to the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus says Jehovah, Forasmuch as you have been disobedient to the mouth of Jehovah, and have not kept the commandment which Jehovah your God commanded you, but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, Eat no bread, and drink no water; your body shall not come to the sepulchre of your fathers. And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back. And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his body was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it; the lion also stood by the body. And, behold, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt. And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient to the mouth of Jehovah: therefore Jehovah has delivered him to the lion, which has torn him, and slain him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke to him. And he spoke to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled it. And he went and found his body cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the body: the lion had not eaten the body, nor torn the ass. And the prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back; and he came to the city of the old prophet, to mourn, and to bury him. And he laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother! And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. For the saying which he cried by the word of Jehovah against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass. After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again from among all the people priests of the high places: whoever would, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places. ( 34 ) And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
2 Kings 10 : 1 - Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to them that brought up the sons of Ahab, saying, And now as soon as this letter comes to you, seeing your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor; look you out the best and meetest of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house. But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, the two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand? And he that was over the household, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and they that brought up the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants, and will do all that you shall bid us; we will not make any man king: do you that which is good in your eyes. Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If you be on my side, and if you will hearken to my voice, take you the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to-morrow this time. Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up. And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons, and slew them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel. And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay you them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning. And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, You are righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him; but who smote all these? Know now that there shall fall to the earth nothing of the word of Jehovah, which Jehovah spoke concerning the house of Ahab: for Jehovah has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah. So Jehu smote all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him none remaining. And he arose and departed, and went to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing-house of the shepherds in the way, Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are you? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah: and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen. ( 14 ) And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing-house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them. ( 14 )
2 Chronicles 11 : 1 - And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam. But the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, Thus says Jehovah, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened to the words of Jehovah, and returned from going against Jeroboam. And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah. He built Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa, And Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam, and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph, and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah, and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities. And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of victuals, and oil and wine. And in every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. And Judah and Benjamin belonged to him. And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border. For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office to Jehovah; and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the he-goats, and for the calves which he had made. And after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Jehovah, the God of their fathers. ( 17 ) So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
Jeremiah 31 : 33 - But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Jehovah: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more. Thus says Jehovah, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar; Jehovah of hosts is his name: If these ordinances depart from before me, says Jehovah, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus says Jehovah: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Jehovah.
Jeremiah 37 : 1 - And Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah. But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken to the words of Jehovah, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah. And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to Jehovah our God for us. Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison. And Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans that were besieging Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they broke up from Jerusalem. Then came the word of Jehovah to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Thus shall you say to the king of Judah, that sent you to me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land. And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire. Thus says Jehovah, Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart. For though you had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire. And it came to pass that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army, then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people. And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are falling away to the Chaldeans. Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes. And the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison. When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon-house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days; Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison? Where now are your prophets that prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land? ( 20 ) And now hear, I pray you, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray you, be presented before you, that you cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there. Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
Psalm 12 : 6 - The words of Jehovah are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, Purified seven times. You will keep them, O Jehovah, You will preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
Psalm 119 : 1 - (ALEPH) -. Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, That seek him with the whole heart. Yes, they do no unrighteousness; They walk in his ways. You have commanded us your precepts, That we should observe them diligently. Oh that my ways were established To observe your statutes! Then shall I not be put to shame, When I have respect to all your commandments. I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, When I learn your righteous judgments. I will observe your statutes: Oh forsake me not utterly.
Psalm 119 : 89 - (LAMED ) - For ever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness is to all generations: you have established the earth, and it abides. They continue this day according to your ordinances: for all are your servants. Unless your law had been my delights, I should then have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts: for with them you have quickened me. I am yours, save me; for I have sought your precepts. The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider your testimonies. I have seen an end of all perfection: but your commandment is exceeding broad.
Psalm 119 : 97 - MEM. Oh how love I your law! It is my meditation all the day.Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers; For your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have kept your precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, That I might observe your word. I have not turned aside from your ordinances; For you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding: Therefore I hate every false way.
Psalm 119 : 113 - ( SAMECH ) - I hate vain thoughts: but your law do I love. You are my hiding place and my shield: I hope in your word. Depart from me, you evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. Uphold me according to your word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Hold you me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect to your statutes continually.
Psalm 119 : 140 - Your word is very pure: therefore your servant loves it. I am small and despised: yet do not I forget your precepts. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth. Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet your commandments are my delights. The righteousness of your testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
55 : 10 - For
as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither,
but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed
to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall my word be that goes forth
out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish
that which I please, and it shall prosper in
the thing whereto I sent it. For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing; and all the trees of the fields shall clap their hands.
Jeremiah 1 : 12 - Then said Jehovah to me, You have well seen: for I watch over my word to perform it. And the word of Jehovah came to me the second time, saying, What see you? And I said, I see a boiling caldron; and the face thereof is from the north. Then Jehovah said to me, Out of the north evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says Jehovah; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command you: be not dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them. For, behold, I have made you this day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. ( 19 All ) And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you: for I am with you, says Jehovah, to deliver you.
Amos 8 : 9 - And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day. And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.Behold, the days come, says the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Jehovah. And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of Jehovah, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst. They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, As your god, O Dan, lives; and, As the way of Beer-sheba lives; they shall fall, and never rise up again.
The Ten Comandments (Old Testament )
Exodus 34 : 10 - 28 - And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been wrought in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among which you are shall see the work of Jehovah; for it is a terrible thing that I do with you. Observe you that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you: but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherim (for you shall worship no other god: for Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God );lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and one call you and you eat of his sacrifice; and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the harlot after their gods, and make your sons play the harlot after their gods.
2 Chronicles 34 : 28 - Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof. And they brought back word to the king. Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. And the king went up to the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of Jehovah. And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. And he caused all that were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
Nehemiah 8 : 1 - And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded to Israel. And Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. And he read therein before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law. And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Uriah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam. And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up: and Ezra blessed Jehovah, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with the lifting up of their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped Jehovah with their faces to the ground. Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place. And they read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
Hosea 6 : 6 - For I desire goodness, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt-offerings.But they like Adam have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me. Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity; it is stained with blood. And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way toward Shechem; yes, they have committed lewdness. In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing: there whoredom is found in Ephraim, Israel is defiled. Also, O Judah, there is a harvest appointed for you, when I bring back the captivity of my people.
Jesus - The Word (New Testament )
Matthew 5 : 17 - Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
John 1 : 1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that has been made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 4 :39 - And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did. So when the Samaritans came to him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his word; and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of your speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
Acts 12 : 24 - But the word of God grew and multiplied.
Acts 13 : 4 - So they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant.
Acts 13 : 44 - And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set you for a light of the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the uttermost part of the earth. And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to believed. And the word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region. But the Jews urged on the devout women of honorable estate, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their borders. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
Acts 15 ; 32 - And after they had spent some time there, they were dismissed in peace from the brethren to those that had sent them forth. But it seemed good to Silas to abide there. But Paul and Barnabas tarried in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Acts 17 : 10 - And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Beroea: who when they were come thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of the mind, examining the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so. Many of them therefore believed; also of the Greek women of honorable estate, and of men, not a few. But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed of Paul at Beroea also, they came thither likewise, stirring up and troubling the multitudes. And then immediately the brethren sent forth Paul to go as far as to the sea: and Silas and Timothy abode there still. But they that conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens: and receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him with all speed, they departed.
Acts 18 : 5 - But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was constrained by the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles. And he departed thence, and went into the house of a certain man named Titus Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. And the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak and hold not your peace: for I am with you, and no man shall set on you to harm you: for I have much people in this city. And he dwelt there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
John 8 : 46 - Which of you convicts me of sin? If I say truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God hears the words of God: for this cause you hear them not, because you are not of God. The Jews answered and said to him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and has a demon? Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
John 14 : 22 - Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, Lord, what is come to pass that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world? Jesus answered and said to him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our abode with him. He that loves me not keeps not my words: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
Hebrews 1 : 1 - God, having of old time spoken to the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners, has at the end of these days spoken to us in his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds;
Revelation 19 : 11 - And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteousness he does judge and make war. And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems; and he has a name written which no one knows but he himself. And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. And out of his mouth proceeds a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. And he has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Good News - Gospel (New Testament )
Matthew 28 : 18 - And Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go you therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.
Mark 16 : 15 - And he said to them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieves shall be condemned. And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Luke 9 : 1 - And he called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. And he sent them forth to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staff, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats. And into whatsoever house you enter, there abide, and thence depart. And as many as receive you not, when you depart from that city, shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony against them. And they departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.
Luke 10 : 1 - Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come. And he said to them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.
Acts 2 : 38 - And Peter said to them, Repent you, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ to the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call to him.
Acts 8 : 26 - But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza: the same is desert. And he arose and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship; and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near, and join yourself to this chariot. And Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, Understand you what you read? And he said, How can I, except some one shall guide me? And he besought Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he opens not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? For his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray you, of whom speaks the prophet this? of himself, or of some other? And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him Jesus. And as they went on the way, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said, Behold, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized? And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.
Acts 11 : 12 - And the Spirit bade me go with them, making no distinction. And these six brethren also accompanied me; and we entered into the man’s house: and he told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, Send to Joppa, and fetch Simon, whose surname is Peter; who shall speak to you words, whereby you shall be saved, you and all your house. And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 15 ; 1 - Now I make known to you brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, wherein also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, except you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried; and that he has been raised on the third day according to the scriptures; and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve; then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep; then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Whether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
Colossians 1 : 5 - the word of the truth of the gospel, which is come to you; even as it is also in all the world bearing fruit and increasing, as it does in you also, since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; even as you learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.
Titus 1 : 1 - Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal; but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour; to Titus, my true child after a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.
Titus 3 : 6 ... the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, which he poured out upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
1 Thessalonians 2 : 13 - And for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you that believe.
Hebrews 4 : 12 - For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 8 : 10 - For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, And on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: For all shall know me, From the least to the greatest of them.
James 1 : 21 - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: for he beholds himself, and goes away, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. But he that looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continues, being not a hearer that forgets but a doer that works, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
1 John 1 : 1 - That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life (and the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare unto you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us); that which we have seen and heard declare we to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us: yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ:
Good News - Gospel (Old Testament )
Psalm 119 : 25 - ( DALETH). My soul cleaves to the dust: Quicken you me according to your word. I declared my ways, and you answered me: Teach me your statutes. Make me to understand the way of your precepts: So shall I meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts for heaviness: Strengthen you me according to your word. Remove from me the way of falsehood; And grant me your law graciously (29).
Isaiah 49 : 6 - yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.
The Maker put this planet together His Word was law. He spoke
... it happened.
