A - What The Maker's Manual says -

Money, Taxes, Wealth, Power (New Testament)

Matthew 5 : 3 - Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 6 : 24 - No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 6 : 25 - Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?

Matthew 13 : 22 ....that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Mark 10 : 23 - Jesus answered again, and said to them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they were astonished exceedingly, saying to him, Then who can be saved? Jesus looking upon them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.

Luke 6 : 24 - But woe to you that are rich! for you have received your consolation. Woe to you, you that are full now! for you shall hunger. Woe to you, you that laugh now! for you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets

Luke 12 : 16 - And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry. But God said unto him, You foolish one, this night is your soul required of you; and the things which you have prepared, whose shall they be? So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Luke 12 : 23 - And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. For the life is more than the food, and the body than the raiment.

Luke 16 : 13 - No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him. And he said to them, You are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Luke 18 : 22 - Jesus heard it, he said to him, One thing you lack yet: sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich.

Luke 18 : 22 - And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said to him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, even God. You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother. And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up. And when Jesus heard it, he said to him, One thing you lack yet: sell all thatyou have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich. And Jesus seeing him said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy. 6 : 6 - But godliness with contentment is great gain: for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out; but having food and covering we shall be therewith content. But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

1 Timothy 6 : 17 Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.

Hebrews 13 : 6 - Be free from the love of money; content with such things as you have: for himself has said, I will in no wise fail you, neither will I in any wise forsake you. So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do to me?

James 5 : 1 - Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; you have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter. You have condemned, you have killed the righteous one; he does not resist you.

Money, Taxes, Wealth, Power (Old Testament)

Genesis 47 : 13 - And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine. And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house. And when the money was all spent in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in your presence? for our money fails. And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail. And they brought their cattle to Joseph; and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, and for the flocks, and for the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread in exchange for all their cattle for that year. And when that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, We will not hide from my lord, how that our money is all spent; and the herds of cattle are my lord’s; there is nought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands: wherefore should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land be not desolate. So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine was sore upon them: and the land became Pharaoh’s. And as for the people, he removed them to the cities from one end of the border of Egypt even to the other end thereof. Only the land of the priests bought he not: for the priests had a portion from Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them; wherefore they sold not their land.

Deuteronomy 15 : 1 - At the end of every seven years you shall make a release.  And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lends ought to his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD’S release. Of a foreigner you may exact it again: but that which is yours with your brother your hand shall release; Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it: Only if you carefully hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command you this day. For the LORD your God blesses you, as he promised you: and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. If there be among you a poor man of one of your brethren within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother: But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants. Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nought; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you. You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him: because that for this thing the LORD your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you puty your hand to. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land ( 11 ).

Judges 8 : 22 - Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule you over us, both you, and your son, and your son’s son also; for you have saved us out of the hand of Midian. And Gideon said to them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: Jehovah shall rule over you. And Gideon said to them, I would make a request of you, that you would give me every man the ear-rings of his spoil. (For they had golden ear-rings, because they were Ishmaelites.) And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the ear-rings of his spoil. And the weight of the golden ear-rings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold, besides the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were about their camels’ necks. And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel played the harlot after it there; and it became a snare to Gideon, and to his house. So Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, and they lifted up their heads no more. And the land had rest forty years in the days of Gideon ( 29 ).

1 Kings 10 : 13 (2 Chronicles 9 : 13) Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold, besides that which the traders brought, and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mingled people, and of the governors of the country. And king Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold went to one buckler. And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pounds of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon. Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold. There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays. And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom. And all king Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon. For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks. So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year. And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance. And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king’s merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price. And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means ( 28 End).

2 Kings 22 : 1 - Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying, Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people: And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house, to carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house. Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully. And Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Your servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD ( 10 ).

2 Kings 23 : 31 ( 2 Chronicles 36 : 1 ) Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done. And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold. And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there. And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it to Pharaohnechoh. Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

2 Chronicles 24 : 13 - So the workmen wrought, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands, and they set up the house of God in its state, and strengthened it. And when they had made an end, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of Jehovah, even vessels wherewith to minister and to offer, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt-offerings in the house of Jehovah continually all the days of Jehoiada. But Jehoiada waxed old and was full of days, and he died; a hundred and thirty years old was he when he died. ( 16 ) And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.

Job 31 : 24 - If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much; If I have beheld the sun when it shined, Or the moon walking in brightness, And my heart has been secretly enticed, And my mouth has kissed my hand: This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God that is above.

Psalm 62 : 10 - Trust not in oppression, And become not vain in robbery: If riches increase, set not your heart thereon. God has spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongs to God. Also to you, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness; For you render to every man according to his work.

Proverbs 13 : 11 - Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathers by labor shall have increase.

Proverbs 19 : 1 - Better is the poor that walks in his integrity Than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; And he that hasts with his feet sins. The foolishness of man subverts his way; And his heart frets against Jehovah. Wealth adds many friends; But the poor is separated from his friend. A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that utters lies shall not escape. Many will entreat the favor of the liberal man; And every man is a friend to him that gives gifts. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but they are gone.

Proverbs 22 : 16 - He that oppresses the poor to increase his gain, And he that gives to the rich, shall come only to want.

Proverbs 22 : 22 - Rob not the poor, because he is poor; Neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: For Jehovah will plead their cause, And despoil of life those that despoil them. Make no friendship with a man that is given to anger; And with a wrathful man you shall not go: Lest you learn his ways, And get a snare to your soul. Be you not one of them that strike hands, Or of them that are sureties for debts. If you have not wherewith to pay, Why should he take away your bed from under you? ( 27 )

Ecclesiastes 5 : 12 - The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much; but the fulness of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

Ecclesiastes 10 : 19 - A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes glad the life; and money answers all things.

Isaiah 41 : 17 - When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

Habakkuk 2 : 6 - Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increases that which is not his! how long? and that lades himself with pledges! Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite you, and awake that shall vex you, and you shall be for booty to them? Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you, because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein. Woe to him that gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

Tithes and Offerings
(New Testament)

Matthew 23 : 23 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these you ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone.

Luke 11 : 42 - But woe to you Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Luke 18 : 12 - The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get. But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be you merciful to me a sinner. I say to you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be humbled; but he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

Romans 15 : 22 - Wherefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you: but now, having no more any place in these regions, and having these many years a longing to come to you, whenever I go to Spain (for I hope to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first in some measure I shall have been satisfied with your company)-- but now, I say, I go to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints. For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints that are at Jerusalem. Yes, it has been their good pleasure; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to minister to them in carnal things. When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by you to Spain. And I know that, when I come to you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ.

Hebrews 7 : 1 - For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, which is King of peace; without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God), abides a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the chief spoils. And they indeed of the sons of Levi that receive the priest's office have commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though these have come out of the loins of Abraham: but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has taken tithes of Abraham, and has blessed him that has the promises. But without any dispute the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there one, of whom it is witnessed that he lives. And, so to say, through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes; for he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchizedek met him.

(Old Testament)

Genesis 14 : 18 - And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth: and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tenth of all. And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to yourself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich: save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.

Exodus 35 : 20 - And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought Jehovah's offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service thereof, and for the holy garments. And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought brooches, and ear-rings, and signet-rings, and armlets, all jewels of gold; even every man that offered an offering of gold to Jehovah. And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, brought them. Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought Jehovah's offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it. And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, the blue, and the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen. And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun the goats' hair. And the rulers brought the onyx stones, and the stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate; and the spice, and the oil; for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. The children of Israel brought a freewill-offering to Jehovah; every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which Jehovah had commanded to be made by Moses.

Leviticus 27 : 30 - And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is Jehovah's: it is holy to Jehovah. And if a man will redeem aught of his tithe, he shall add to it the fifth part thereof. And all the tithe of the herd or the flock, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Jehovah. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and that for which it is changed shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which Jehovah commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

Numbers 18 : 24 - But the Levites shall do the service of the tent of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations; and among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave-offering to Jehovah, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore I have said to them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave-offering of it for Jehovah, a tithe of the tithe. And your heave-offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing-floor, and as the fulness of the winepress. Thus you also shall offer a heave-offering to Jehovah of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and thereof you shall give Jehovah's heave-offering to Aaron the priest. Out of all your gifts you shall offer every heave-offering of Jehovah, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it. Therefore you shall say to them, When you heave the best thereof from it, then it shall be reckoned to the Levites as the increase of the threshing-floor, and as the increase of the wine-press. And you shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward in return for your service in the tent of meeting.

Deuteronomy 12 : 6 - But to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and thither you shall come; and thither you shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock: and there you shall eat before Jehovah your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, wherein Jehovah your God has blessed you. You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes; for you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Jehovah your God gives you. But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Jehovah your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you dwell in safety; then it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall you bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Jehovah. And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he has no portion nor inheritance with you. Take heed to yourself that you offer not your burnt-offerings in every place that you see; but in the place which Jehovah shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt-offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

Deuteronomy 14 : 22 - You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes forth from the field year by year. And you shall eat before Jehovah your God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Jehovah thy God always. And if the way be too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Jehovah your God shall choose, to set his name there, when Jehovah your God shall bless you; then shall you turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose: and you shall bestow the money for whatever your soul desires, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Jehovah your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household. And the Levite that is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you. At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates: and the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Deuteronomy 26 : 1 - And it shall be, when you are come in to the land which Jehovah thy God gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell therein, that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you shall bring in from your land that Jehovah your God gives you; and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there. And you shall come to the priest that shall be in those days, and sayto him, I profess this day to Jehovah your God, that I am come to the land which Jehovah swore to our fathers to give us. And the priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of Jehovah your God. And you shall answer and say before Jehovah your God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down to Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous. And the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid on us hard bondage: and we cried to Jehovah, the God of our fathers, and Jehovah heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression; and Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders; and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, O Jehovah, have given me. And you shall set it down before Jehovah your God, and worship before Jehovah your God: and you shall rejoice in all the good which Jehovah your God has given to you, and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner that is in the midst of you. When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled ( 12 ) Then you shall say before the LORD your God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandments which you have commanded me: I have not transgressed your commandments, neither have I forgotten them: I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that you have commanded me.( 15 ) Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the land which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land that flows with milk and honey.

1 Chronicles 26 : 20 - And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things. The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the fathers’ houses belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli. The sons of Jehieli: Zetham, and Joel his brother, over the treasures of the house of Jehovah. Of the Amramites, of the Izharites, of the Hebronites, of the Uzzielites: and Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler over the treasures. And his brethren: of Eliezer came Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son. This Shelomoth and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the heads of the fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated. Out of the spoil won in battles did they dedicate to repair the house of Jehovah. And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated, whoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomoth, and of his brethren. ( 29 ) Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.

2 Chronicles 31 : 1 - Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and broke in pieces the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim, and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities. And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt-offerings and for peace-offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of Jehovah. He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt-offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt-offerings, and the burnt-offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of Jehovah. Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the law of Jehovah. And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel gave in abundance the first-fruits of grain, new wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. And the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of dedicated things which were consecrated to Jehovah their God, and laid them by heaps.( 6 ).

Nehemiah 10 : 38 - And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure-house. For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the heave-offering of the grain, of the new wine, and of the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

Nehemiah 12 : 44 - And on that day were men appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, according to the fields of the cities, the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited. And they kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and so did the singers and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son. For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, as every day required: and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.

Proverbs 3 : 9 - Honor Jehovah with your substance, And with the first-fruits of all your increase: So shall your barns be filled with plenty, And your vats shall overflow with new wine.

Malachi 3 : 7 - From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says Jehovah of hosts. But you say, Wherein shall we return? Will a man rob God? yet you rob me. But you say, Wherein have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation. Bring you the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, says Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, says Jehovah of hosts. And all nations shall call you happy; for you shall be a delightsome land, says Jehovah of hosts.(12)

Debt-Freedom (New Testament)

Romans 13 : 8 - For this cause you pay tribute also; for they are ministers of God's service, attending continually upon this very thing. Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law

Debt-Freedom (Old Testament)

Deuteronomy 28 : 12 - Jehovah will open to you his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend to many nations you shall not be beneath; if you shall hearken to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them.

Proverbs 22 : 7 - The rich rules over the poor; And the borrower is servant to the lender. He that sows iniquity shall reap calamity; And the rod of his wrath shall fail. He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; For he gives of his bread to the poor.
