A - What The Maker's Manual says -

Patience (New Testament)
Luke 2 : 22 - And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, that they might do concerning him after the custom of the law, then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, Now let your servant depart, Lord, According to your word, in peace; For my eyes have seen your salvation, Which you have prepared before the face of all peoples; A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of your people Israel. And his father and his mother were marvelling at the things which were spoken concerning him

Luke 9 : 57 - And as they went on the way, a certain man said unto him, I will follow you whithersoever you go. And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man has not where to lay his head. And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But he said to him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go you and publish abroad the kingdom of God. 6 And another also said, I will follow you, Lord; but first suffer me to bid farewell to them that are at my house. But Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God

Luke 12 : 30 - For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: but your Father knows that you have need of these things. Yet seek his kingdom, and these things shall be added to you.

Luke 12 : 35 - Let your loins be girded about, and your lamps burning; and be yourselves like to men looking for their lord, when he shall return from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may straightway open to him. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say to you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find them so blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through. Be you also ready: for in an hour that you think not the Son of man comes. And Peter said, Lord, speak you this parable to us, or even unto all? And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. Of a truth I say to you, that he will set him over all that he has. But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayes his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expects not, and in an hour when he knows not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful. And that servant, who knew his lord's will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more.

Matthew 24 : 36 ( Luke 12 : 42 ) - But of that day and hour knows no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only. And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. Then shall two men be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left. Watch therefore: for you know not on what day your Lord comes. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through. Therefore be you also ready; for in an hour that you think not the Son of man comes. Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. Verily I say to you, that he will set him over all that he has. But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord tarries; and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expects not, and in an hour when he knows not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

Patience (Old Testament )

Psalm 27 : 14 - Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, And let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for Jehovah.

Exodus 14 : 13 - And Moses said to the people, Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day: for the Egyptians whom you have seen to-day, you shall see them again no more for ever. Jehovah will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. And Jehovah said to Moses, Wherefore cry you to me? speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward. And lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground.

Leviticus 6 : 8 - And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt-offering: the burnt-offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night to the morning; and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning thereon. And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh; and he shall take up the ashes whereto the fire has consumed the burnt-offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp to a clean place. And the fire upon the altar shall be kept burning thereon, it shall not go out; and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning: and he shall lay the burnt-offering in order upon it, and shall burn thereon the fat of the peace-offerings. Fire shall be kept burning upon the altar continually; it shall not go out ( 13 ).

1 Samuel 26 : 1 - And the Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert? Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come of a certainty. And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay within the place of the wagons, and the people were encamped round about him. Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with you. So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the place of the wagons, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay round about him. Then said Abishai to David, God has delivered up your enemy into your hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray you, with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time. And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can put forth his hand against Jehovah’s anointed, and be guiltless? And David said, As Jehovah lives, Jehovah will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish. Jehovah forbid that I should put forth my hand against Jehovah’s anointed: but now take, I pray you, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go. So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s head; and they got them away: and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake; for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Jehovah was fallen upon them. 1 Samuel 29 : 1 - Now the Philistines gathered together all their hosts to Aphek: and the Israelites encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel. And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; and David and his men passed on in the rearward with Achish. Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell away to me to this day?
But he princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said to him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where you have appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us: for wherewith should this fellow reconcile himself to his lord? should it not be with the heads of these men? Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands? Then Achish called David, and said to him, As Jehovah lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the host is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me to this day: nevertheless the lords favor you not. Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that you displease not the lords of the Philistines. And David said to Achish, But what have I done? and what have you found in your servant so long as I have been before you to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king? And Achish answered and said to David, I know that you are good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle. Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with the servants of your lord that are come with you; and as soon as you are up early in the morning, and have light, depart. So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

2 Kings 13 : 14 - Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died: and Joash the king of Israel came down
to him, and wept over him, and said, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof! And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows; and he took unto him bow and arrows. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow; and he put his hand upon it. And Elisha laid his hands upon the king’s hands. And he said, Open the window eastward; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot; and he shot. And he said, Jehovah’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for you shall smite the Syrians in Aphek, till you have consumed them. And he said, Take the arrows; and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground; and he smote thrice, and stayed. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, You should have smitten five or six times: then had you smitten Syria till you had consumed it, whereas now you shall smite Syria but thrice.

Job 27 : 6 - My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

Psalm 37 : 34 - Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, And he will exalt you to inherit the land: When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

Psalm 40 : 1 - I waited patiently for Jehovah; And he inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he has put a new song in my mouth

Ecclesiastes 7 : 8 - Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry; for anger rests in the bosom of fools. Surely extortion makes the wise man foolish; and a bribe destroys the understanding. Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry; for anger rests in the bosom of fools.

Isaiah 30 : 15 - For thus said the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. And you would not: but you said, No, for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall you flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

Isaiah 62 : 1 - For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns. And the nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah shall name. You shall also be a crown of beauty in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

Psalm 46 : 10 - Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 130 : 1 - ( A Song of degrees ). Out of the depths have I cried to you, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If you, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be feared.I wait for Jehovah, my soul waits, And in his word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than watchmen wait for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Jeremiah 42 : 7 - And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah. Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, and said to them, Thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him: If you will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up for I repent me of the evil that I have done to you. Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; be not afraid of him, says Jehovah: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand. And I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land. But if you say, We will not dwell in this land; so that you obey not the voice of Jehovah your God, saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: now therefore hear you the word of Jehovah, O remnant of Judah: Thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there; then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which you fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, whereof you are afraid, shall follow hard after you there in Egypt; and there you shall die. So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there: they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them. For thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: As my anger and my wrath has been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my wrath be poured forth upon you, when you shall enter into Egypt; and you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more. Jehovah has spoken concerning you, O remnant of Judah, Go you not into Egypt: know certainly that I have testified to you this day. ( 20 ) For you have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for you sent me to Jehovah your God, saying, Pray for us to Jehovah our God; and according to all that Jehovah our God shall say, so declare to us, and we will do it: and I have this day declared it to you; but you have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah your God in anything for which he has sent me to you.
( 22 End ) Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither you desire to go to sojourn there.

Habakkuk 3 : 16 - I heard, and my body trembled, My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness enters into my bones, and I tremble in my place; Because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, For the coming up of the people that invade us.

Persistence (New Testament)

Luke 18 : 1 - And he spoke a parable to them to the end that they ought always to pray, and not to faint; saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man: and there was a widow in that city; and she came often to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming. And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge said. And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them? I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily.

Acts 20 : 7 - And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight. And there were many lights in the upper chamber where we were gathered together. And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make no ado; for his life is in him. And when he was gone up, and had broken the bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. And they brought the lad alive, and were not a little comforted.

Romans 8 : 22 - For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

But I have this against you, that you did leave your first love.

Revelation 3 : 7 - And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These things says he that is holy, he that is true, he that has the key of David, he that opens and none shall shut, and that shuts and none opens: I know your works (behold, I have set before you a door opened, which none can shut), that you have a little power, and did keep my word, and did not deny my name. Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of them that say they are Jews, and they are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you did keep the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of trial, that hour which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Persistence (Old Testament)

Genesis 24 : 6 - And Abraham said to him, Beware you that you bring not my son thither again. Jehovah, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my nativity, and who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, To your seed will I give this land; he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from thence. And if the woman be not willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath; only you shall not bring my son thither again. And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

Constancy (New Testament )

Luke 13 : 6 - And he spoke this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none. It shall turn out to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. But you shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And you shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. And not a hair of your head shall perish. In your patience you shall win your souls.

2 Timothy 4 : 2 - I charge you in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables. But be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.

Hebrews 6 : 11 - And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fulness of hope even to the end: that you be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrews 10 : 32 - But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings; partly, being made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, becoming partakers with them that were so used. For you both had compassion on them that were in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one. Cast not away therefore your boldness, which has great recompense of reward. For you have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet a very little while, He that comes shall come, and shall not tarry. But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of them that shrink back to perdition; but of them that have faith to the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 13 : 9 - Be not carried away by divers and strange teachings: for it is good that the heart be established by grace; not by meats, wherein they that occupied themselves were not profited.

James 1 : 12 - Blessed is the man that endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him.

James 5 : 7 - Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain. Be also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that you be not judged: behold, the judge stands before the doors. Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we call them blessed that endured: you have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.

Revelation 13 : 10 - If any man is for captivity, into captivity he goes: if any man shall kill with the sword, with the sword must he be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.....Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard the voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yes, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.

Revelation 14 : 8 - And another, a second angel, followed, saying, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, that has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, If any man worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or upon his hand, he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, they that worship the beast and his image, and whoso receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Constancy (New Testament )

Exodus 23 : 29 - I will send my terror before you, and will discomfit all the people to whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. And I will send the hornet before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before you. I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beasts of the field multiply against you. By little and little I will drive them out from before you, until you be increased, and inherit the land. And I will set your border from the Red Sea even to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand: and you shall drive them out before you. You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.

Zephaniah 1 : 12 - And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil. And their wealth shall become a spoil, and their houses a desolation: yes, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof.

Psalm 106 : 2 - Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah, Or show forth all his praise? Blessed are they that keep justice, And he that does righteousness at all times.

Above - Waves break on the sea shore with pitiless constancy. Seeming never to gain an inch, they gradually change whole coastlines and the shape of whole countries. We have to learn from this and develop persistence thst achieves.
