A - What The Maker's Manual says -
Peace (New Testament)

Mark 4 : 37 - And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling. And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awoke him, and said to him, Teacher, care you not that we perish? And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said to them, Why are you fearful? have you not yet faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Luke 1 : 78 - Yes and you, child ( John the Baptist ) , shall be called the prophet of the Most High: For you shall go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways; To give knowledge of salvation to his people In the remission of their sins. Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high shall visit us, To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing to Israel.

Luke 2 : 14 - Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleased

John 14 : 27 ... my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. You heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come to you. If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, you may believe. I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes: and he has nothing in me.

Romans 14 : 17 - for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he that herein serves Christ is well-pleasing to God, and approved of men. So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another.

2 Timothy 2 : 24 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Peace (Old Testament)

Genesis 45 : 19 - Now you art commanded, this do you: take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours. And the sons of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way. To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment. And to his father he sent after this manner: ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses laden with grain and bread and provision for his father by the way. So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said to them, See that you fall not out by the way.

Deuteronomy 20 : 10 - When you come nigh to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. And it shall be, if it make you answer of peace, and open to you, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries to you, and they shall serve you. And if it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: And when the LORD your God has delivered it into your hands, you shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shall you take to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which the LORD your God has given you. Thus shall you do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. But of the cities of these people, which the LORD your God does give you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes: But you shall utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD your God has commanded you: That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods; so should you sin against the LORD your God. When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for you may eat of them, and you shall not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege: ( 20 End ) Only the trees which you know that they be not trees for meat, you shall destroy and cut them down; and you shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it be subdued.

Judges 10 : 1 - And after Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the hill-country of Ephraim. And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir. And after him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty and two years. And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth-jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead. And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.

1 Samuel 24 : 8 (Narrative opens under topic 'Leaders') - David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and did obeisance. And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearkenest thou to men’s words, saying, Behold, David seeks your hurt? Behold, this day your eyes have seen how that Jehovah had delivered you to-day into my hand in the cave: and some bade me kill you; but my eye spared you; and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is Jehovah’s anointed. Moreover, my father, see, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed you not, know you and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt after my life to take it. Jehovah judge between me and you, and Jehovah avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be upon you. As says the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness; but my hand shall not be upon you. After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom do you pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea. (15) Jehovah therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand. (Narrative continues under topic 'Good v Bad')

Psalm 46 : 9 - The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered his voice, the earth melted.
Jehovah of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.
[Selah] Come, behold the works of Jehovah, What desolations he has made in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in sunder; He burns the chariots in the fire.

Psalm 120 : 1 - ( A Song of degrees) - In my distress I cried to the LORD, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you? or what shall be done to you, you false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! My soul has long dwelt with him that hates peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

Proverbs 17 : 1 - Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, Than a house full of feasting with strife. A servant that deals wisely shall have rule over a son that causes shame, And shall have part in the inheritance among the brethren.

Proverbs 17 : 14 - The beginning of strife is as when one lets out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

Isaiah 11 : 6 - And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.

Isaiah 26 : 4 - Trust you in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock. For he has brought down them that dwell on high, the lofty city: he lays it low, he lays it low even to the ground; he brings it even to the dust. The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. The way of the just is uprightness: you that are upright do direct the path of the just. Yes, in the way of your judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for you; to your name, even to your memorial name, is the desire of our soul. With my soul have I desired you in the night; yes, with my spirit within me will I seek you earnestly: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not behold the majesty of Jehovah. Jehovah, your hand is lifted up, yet they see not: but they shall see your zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yes, fire shall devour your adversaries. Jehovah, you will ordain peace for us; for you have also wrought all our works for us.

Isaiah 32 : 17 - Then justice shall dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness shall abide in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence for ever. And my people shall abide in a peaceable habitation, and in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting-places. But it shall hail in the downfall of the forest; and the city shall be utterly laid low. Blessed are you that sow beside all waters, that send forth the feet of the ox and the ass.

Isaiah 53 : 5 - the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Jeremiah 6 : 10 - Therefore I am full of the wrath of Jehovah; I am weary with holding in: pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. And their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, says Jehovah. For from the least of them even to the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely. They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, says Jehovah. Thus says Jehovah, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk therein. And I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet; but they said, We will not hearken. Therefore hear, you nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. ( 20 ) To what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.

Jeremiah 8 : 11 - And they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, says Jehovah. I will utterly consume them, says Jehovah: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them. Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for Jehovah our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah. We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay! The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they are come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those that dwell therein. For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, says Jehovah. Oh that I could comfort myself against sorrow! my heart is faint within me. Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: Is not Jehovah in Zion? is not her King in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with foreign vanities? The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has taken hold on me. ( 22 ) Is there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

Ezekiel 34 : 24 - And I, Jehovah, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them; I, Jehovah, have spoken it. And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing. And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those that made bondmen of them. And they shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the beasts of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid. And I will raise up to them a plantation for renown, and they shall be no more consumed with famine in the land, neither bear the shame of the nations any more. And they shall know that I, Jehovah, their God am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, says the Lord Jehovah. And you my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, says the Lord Jehovah.

Peace of Mind (New Testament)

Mark 5 : 21 ( Matthew 9 : 18 , Luke 8 : 41 ) - And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague. And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power proceeding from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments? And his disciples said to him, You see the multitude thronging you, and say you, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague.

Mark 9 : 50 - For every one shall be salted with fire. Salt is good: but if the salt has lost its saltness, wherewith will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another.

John 20 : 19 - When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace be to you. And when he had said this, he showed to them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace be to you: as the Father has sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit: whose ever sins you forgive, they are forgiven to them; whose ever sins you retain, they are retained.

Romans 5 : 1 - Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation works stedfastness; and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope: and hope puts not to shame; because the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given to us.

Romans 12 : 17 - Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as in you lies, be at peace with all men.

2 Corinthians 12 : 15 - And I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less? But be it so, I did not myself burden you; but, being crafty, I caught you with guile. Did I take advantage of you by any one of them whom I have sent to you? I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? You think all this time that we are excusing ourselves to you. In the sight of God speak we in Christ. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying. For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I should find you not such as I would, and should myself be found of you such as you would not; lest by any means there should be strife, jealousy, wraths, factions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults; lest again when I come my God should humble me before you, and I should mourn for many of them that have sinned heretofore, and repented not of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they committed.

2 Corinthians 13 : 11 - Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfected; be comforted; be of the same mind; live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Salute one another with a holy kiss. All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

Ephesians 2 : 14 - For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition, having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the two one new man, so making peace; and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh: for through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

Philippians 4 : 7 - And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus

Philippians 4 : 9 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. The things which you both learned and received and heard and saw in me, these things do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Philippians 4 : 11 - Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatever state I am, therein to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know also how to abound: in everything and in all things have I learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want. I can do all things in him that strengthens me.

Colossians 3 : 15 - And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. And whatsoever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 23 - Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward. Quench not the Spirit; despise not prophesyings; prove all things; hold fast that which is good; abstain from every form of evil. And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calls you, who will also do it.

2 Thessalonians 3 : 16 - Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

James 4 : 1 - Whence come wars and whence come fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members? You lust, and have not: you kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: you fight and war; you have not, because you ask not.

1 John 3 : 19 - Hereby shall we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before him: because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have boldness toward God; and whatever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.

Peace of Mind (Old Testament)

Isaiah 48 : 18 - Oh that you had hearkened to my commandments! then had your peace been as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea: your seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of your bowels like the grains thereof: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me. Go you forth from Babylon, flee you from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare you, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth: say you, Jehovah has redeemed his servant Jacob. And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. There is no peace, says Jehovah, to the wicked.

Isaiah 54 : 10 - You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 66 : 12 - For thus says Jehovah, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and you shall suck thereof; you shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. And you shall see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass: and the hand of Jehovah shall be known toward his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies For, behold, Jehovah will come with fire, and his chariots shall be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.( 16 ) For by fire will Jehovah execute judgment, and by his sword, upon all flesh; and the slain of Jehovah shall be many. They that sanctify themselves and purify themselves to go to the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, they shall come to an end together, says Jehovah. For I know their works and their thoughts: the time comes, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and shall see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will send such as escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations. And they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations for an oblation to Jehovah, upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says Jehovah, as the children of Israel bring their oblation in a clean vessel into the house of Jehovah.
And of them also will I take for priests and for Levites, saith Jehovah.(
21 )

Jeremiah 6 : 14 - (Jeremiah 8 : 11) - For from the least of them even to the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

Jeremiah 8 : 11 - The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them? Therefore will I give their wives to others, and their fields to them that shall possess them: for every one from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely. And they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, says Jehovah.

Micah 5 : 5 - But you, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which are little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of you shall one come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting. Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she who travails has brought forth: then the residue of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel. And he shall stand, and shall feed his flock in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God: and they shall abide; for now shall he be great to the ends of the earth. And this man shall be our peace.

Contentment (Old Testament)

Psalm 37 : 16 - Better is a little that the righteous has Than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholds the righteous. Jehovah knows the days of the perfect; And their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Proverbs 19 : 19 - A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty; For if you deliver him, you must do it yet again. Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter end. There are many devices in a man’s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand. That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness; And a poor man is better than a liar. The fear of Jehovah tends to life; And he that has it shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil. The sluggard buries his hand in the dish, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. Smite a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; And reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge. He that does violence to his father, and chases away his mother, Is a son that causes shame and brings reproach. Cease, my son, to hear instruction Only to err from the words of knowledge. A worthless witness mocks at justice; And the mouth of the wicked swallows iniquity.Judgments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools. ( 29 End )

Proverbs 30 : 8 - Remove far from me falsehood and lies; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is needful for me: Lest I be full, and deny you, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

Ecclesiastes 4 : 6 - Better is a handful, with quietness, than two handfuls with labor and striving after wind. Then I returned and saw vanity under the sun. There is one that is alone, and he has not a second; yes, he has neither son nor brother; yet is there no end of all his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with riches. For whom then, says he, do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This also is vanity, yes, it is a sore travail.

Ecclesiastes 5 : 18 - Behold, that which I have seen to be good and to be comely is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labor, wherein he labors under the sun, all the days of his life which God has given him: for this is his portion. Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor--this is the gift of God. For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answered him in the joy of his heart.
