A - What The Maker's Manual says - What

Stand firm (New Testament )Maker's Manual says -

Matthew 10 : 22 - And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, You shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Matthew 25 : 1 - Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say to you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for you know not the day nor the hour.

Matthew 26 : 56 ( Mark 14 : 53, John 18 : 12 ) - Then all the disciples left him, and fled.... So the band and the chief captain, and the officers of the Jews, seized Jesus and bound him, and led him to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. Now Caiaphas was he that gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest; but Peter was standing at the door without. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. The maid therefore that kept the door said to Peter, Are you also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not. Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals; for it was cold; and they were warming themselves: and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself. The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching. Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spoke I nothing. Why ask you me? Ask them that have heard me, what I spoke to them: behold, these know the things which I said. And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so? Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smite you me? Annas therefore sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, Are you also one of his disciples? He denied, and said, I am not. One of the servants of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him? Peter therefore denied again: and straightway the cock crew. (Matthew and Mark record a shorter version)

Mark 14 : 66 ( Matthew 26 : 69, Luke 22 : 56, John 18 : 16 ) - And as Peter was beneath in the court, there came one of the maids of the high priest; and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked on him, and said, You also were with the Nazarene, even Jesus. But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what you say: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean. But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom you speak. And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said to him, Before the cock crow twice, you shall deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

Luke 3 : 15 - And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John ( the Baptist), whether haply he were the Christ; John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there comes he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire: whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire. With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings to the people; but Herod the (Roman) tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done, added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

Luke 8 : 4 ( Matthew 13 : 1 Mark 4 : 1 ) - And when a great multitude came together, and they of every city resorted to him, he (Jesus) spoke by a parable: The sower went forth to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden under foot, and the birds of the heaven devoured it. And other fell on the rock; and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And other fell amidst the thorns; and the thorns grew with it, and choked it. And other fell into the good ground, and grew, and brought forth fruit a hundredfold. As he said these things, he cried, He that has ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. And those by the way side are they that have heard; then comes the devil, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Luke 10 : 18 - Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.

John 16 : 33 - These things have I spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Acts 22 : 22 - And they gave him audience to this word; and they lifted up their voice, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. And as they cried out, and threw off their garments, and cast dust into the air, the chief captain commanded him be brought into the castle, bidding that he should be examined by scourging, that he might know for what cause they so shouted against him. And when they had tied him up with the thongs, Paul said to the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned? And when the centurion heard it, he went to the chief captain and told him, saying, What are you about to do? for this man is a Roman. And the chief captain came and said to him, Tell me, are you a Roman? And he said, Yes. And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this citizenship. And Paul said, But I am a Roman born. They then that were about to examine him straightway departed from him: and the chief captain also was afraid when he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him. But on the morrow, desiring to know the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

Romans 8 : 37 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, For your sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 12 : 21 - Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

1 Corinthians 15 : 57 - but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15 : 58 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 16 : 13 - Watch, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.

1 Thessalonians 3 : 1 - Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone; and sent Timothy, our brother and God's minister in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith; that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereto we are appointed. For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and you know. For this cause I also, when I could no longer forbear, sent that I might know your faith, lest by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor should be in vain. But when Timothy came even now to us from you, and brought us glad tidings of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, longing to see us, even as we also to see you; for this cause, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith: for now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord. For what thanksgiving can we render again to God for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God; night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

1 Timothy 6 : 20 - O Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.

2 Timothy 1 : 13 - Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you guard through the Holy Spirit which dwells in us. This you know, that all that are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; but, when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me (the Lord grant to him to find mercy of the Lord in that day); and in how many things he ministered at Ephesus, you know very well.

Hebrews 13 : 10 - We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat that serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us therefore go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

1 Peter 5 : 8 - Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour, whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.

1 John 2 : 13 - I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, little children, because you know the Father.

1 John 5 : 5 - And who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Revelation 2 : 7 - He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him that overcomes, to him will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.

Revelation 3 : 21 - He that overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

Revelation 12 : 11 - And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death

Revelation 21 : 6 - I will give to him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcomes shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

Stand Firm (Old Testament)

Genesis 2 : 8 - And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four heads. The name of the first is Pishon: that is it which compasses the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasses the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goes in front of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.( 15 ) And Jehovah God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Exodus 14 : 13 - And Moses said to the people, Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day

1 Chronicles 27 : 1 - Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the heads of fathers’ houses and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers that served the king, in any matter of the courses which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year - of every course were twenty and four thousand. Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. He was of the children of Perez, the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month. And over the course of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his course; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. This is that Benaiah, who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and of his course was Ammizabad his son. The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The fifth captain for this fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.  The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah: of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of Aaron, Zadok: of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael: of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel: ( 20 ) of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah: of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner: ( 22 ) of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

Nehemiah 1 : 1 - The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it came to pass in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace, that Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men out of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, that were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven, and said, I beseech you,O Lord, I beseech you, let now your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was cupbearer to the king. ( 11 All )

Job 31 : 32 - If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding my iniquity in my bosom, Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and went not out of the door-- Oh that I had one to hear me! (Lo, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me); And that I had the indictment which mine adversary has written! Surely I would carry it upon my shoulder; I would bind it to me as a crown: I would declare to him the number of my steps; As a prince would I go near to him. If my land cries out against me, And the furrows thereof weep together; If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, Or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life: Let thistles grow instead of wheat, And cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

Psalm 31 : 6 - I hate them that regard lying vanities; But I trust in Jehovah. I will be glad and rejoice in your lovingkindness; For you have seen my affliction: You have known my soul in adversities; And you have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a large place. Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, for I am in distress: My eye wasteth away with grief, yes, my soul and my body. For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with sighing: My strength fails because of my iniquity, And my bones are wasted away.
Because of all my adversaries I am become a reproach, Yes, to my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to my acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me. I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. For I have heard the defaming of many, Terror on every side: While they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah: I said, You are my God.
My times are in your hand: Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make your face to shine upon your servant: Save me in your lovingkindness. Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; For I have called upon you: Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol. Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

Psalm 44 : 6 - For I will not trust in my bow, Neither shall my sword save me. But you have saved us from our adversaries, And has put them to shame that hate us. In God have we made our boast all the day long, And we will give thanks to your name for ever.

Psalm 85 : 8 - I will hear what God Jehovah will speak; For he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, That glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth are met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth springs out of the earth; And righteousness has looked down from heaven. Yes, Jehovah will give that which is good; And our land shall yield its increase. Righteousness shall go before him, And shall make his footsteps a way to walk in.

Ezekiel 4 : 1 - You also, son of man, take you a tile, and lay it before yourself, and portray upon it a city, even Jerusalem: and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast up a mound against it; set camps also against it, and plant battering rams against it round about. And take you to yourself an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city: and set your face toward it, and it shall be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. Moreover lie yourself upon your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it; according to the number of the days that you shall lie upon it, you shall bear their iniquity. For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be to you a number of days, even three hundred and ninety days: so shall you bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And again, when you have accomplished these, you shall lie on yiour right side, and shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah: forty days, each day for a year, have I appointed it to you. And you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm uncovered; and you shall prophesy against it. And, behold, I lay bands upon you, and you shall not turn yourself from one side to the other, till you have accomplished the days of your siege. Take you also to yourself wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make yourself bread thereof; according to the number of the days that you shall lie upon your side, even three hundred and ninety days, shall you eat thereof. And your food which you shall eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shall you eat it. And you shall drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: from time to time shall you drink. And you shall eat it as barley cakes, and you shall bake it in their sight with dung that comes out of man. And Jehovah said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their bread unclean, among the nations whither I will drive them. Then said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! behold, my soul has not been polluted; for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn of beasts; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth. Then he said to me, See, I have given you cow’s dung for man’s dung, and you shall prepare your bread thereon. Moreover he said to me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with fearfulness; and they shall drink water by measure, and in dismay: ( 17 End ) that they may want bread and water, and be dismayed one with another, and pine away in their iniquity.

Wake Up ( Old Testament)

Proverbs 6 : 6 - Go to the ant, you sluggard; Consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler, Provides her bread in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall your poverty come as a robber, And your want as an armed man.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 8 - so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

Revelation 3 : 1 - And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things says he that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know your works, that you have a name thatyou livey, and you are dead. Be you watchful, and establish the things that remain, which were ready to die: for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God. Remember therefore how you havet received and did hear; and keep it, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come as a thief, and you shalt not know what hour I will come upon you.

Be Strong, Alert, Confident, Bold (New Testament)

Mark 8 : 38  ( Luke 9 : 23) - And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever would save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? For what should a man give in exchange for his life? For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Ephesians 6 : 10 - Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Hebrews 12 : 12 - Wherefore lift up the hands that hang down, and the palsied knees;
and make straight paths for your feet, that that which is lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

Be Strong, Alert, Confident, Bold (Old Testament)

Genesis 14 : 21 - And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to yourself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich: save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

Deuteronomy 31 : 6 - Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them: for Jehovah your God, he it is that does go with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you. And Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of good courage: for you shall go with this people into the land which Jehovah has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. And Jehovah, he it is that does go before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you, neither forsake you: fear not, neither be dismayed.

1 Kings 2 : 12 - And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly. Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Come you peaceably? And he said, Peaceably. He said moreover, I have somewhat to say to you. And she said, Say on. And he said, You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s; for it was his from Jehovah. And now I ask one petition of you; deny me not. And she said to him, Say on. And he said, Speak, I pray you, to Solomon the king (for he will not say you nay), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
And Bath-sheba said, Well; I will speak for you to the king. Bath-sheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand. Then she said, I ask one small petition of you; deny me not. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother; for I will not deny you. And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother to wife. And king Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah. Then king Solomon swore by Jehovah, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life. Now therefore as Jehovah lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day. And king Solomon sent by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him, so that he died. And to Abiathar the priest said the king, Get you to Anathoth, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death: but I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.( 27 ) So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, that he might fulfil the word of Jehovah, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh

Psalm 40 : 10 - I have not hid your righteousness within my heart; I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your lovingkindness and your truth from the great assembly. Withhold not your tender mercies from me, O Jehovah; Let your lovingkindness and your truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have compassed me about; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; And my heart has failed me.

Psalm 42 : 5 - Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope you in God; for I shall yet praise him For the help of his countenance.O my God, my soul is cast down within me: Therefore do I remember you from the land of the Jordan, And the Hermons, from the hill Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls: All your waves and your billows are gone over me. Yet Jehovah will command his lovingkindness in the day-time; And in the night his song shall be with me, Even a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 43 : 2 - For you are the God of my strength; Why have you cast me off? Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Oh send out your light and your truth; Let them lead me: Let them bring me to your holy hill, And to your tabernacles. Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; And upon the harp will I praise you, O God, my God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope you in God; For I shall yet praise him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Psalm 57 : 7 - My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing, yes, I will sing praises. Awake up, my glory; Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake right early. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples: I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your lovingkindness is great to the heavens, And your truth to the skies. Be you exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let your glory be above all the earth.

Proverbs 4 : 24 - Put away from you a wayward mouth, And perverse lips put far from you. Let your eyes look right on, And let your eyelids look straight before you. Make level the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove your foot from evil.(27 )

Proverbs 3 : 24 - When you lay down, you shall not be afraid: Yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes: For Jehovah will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being taken.

Proverbs 30 : 29 - There are three things which are stately in their march, Yes, four which are stately in going: The lion, which is mightiest among beasts, And turns not away for any; The greyhound; The he-goat also; And the king against whom there is no rising up. If you havedone foolishly in lifting up yourself, Or if you have thought evil, Lay your hand upon your mouth. For the churning of milk brings forth butter, And the wringing of the nose brings forth blood; So the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.( 33 End )

Ecclesiastes 9 : 11 - I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all. For man also knows not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.

Isaiah 21 : 1 - The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweep through, it comes from the wilderness, from a terrible land. A grievous vision is declared to me; the treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam; besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. Therefore are my loins filled with anguish; pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman in travail: I am pained so that I cannot hear; I am dismayed so that I cannot see. My heart flutters, horror has affrighted me; the twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling to me. They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink: rise up, you princes, anoint the shield. For thus hs the Lord said to me, Go, set a watchman: let him declare what he sees: and when he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of asses, a troop of camels, he shall hearken diligently with much heed. And he cried as a lion: O Lord, I stand continually upon the watch-tower in the day-time, and am set in my ward whole nights; and, behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs. And he answered and said, Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the graven images of her gods are broken to the ground. O you my threshing, and the grain of my floor! that which I have heard from Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared to you. The burden of Dumah. One calls to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning comes, and also the night: if you will inquire, inquire you: turn you, come. The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall you lodge, O you caravans of Dedanites. To him that was thirsty they brought water; the inhabitants of the land of Tema did meet the fugitives with their bread. For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war. For thus has the Lord said to me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall fail; and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be few; for Jehovah, the God of Israel, has spoken it.

Isaiah 30 : 15 - For thus said the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. And ye would not: but you said, No, for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall you flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. One thousand shall flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five shall you flee: till you be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on a hill. And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy on you: for Jehovah is a God of justice; blessed are all they that wait for him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; you shall weep no more; he will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry; when he shall hear, he will answer you. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet shall not your teachers be hidden anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers;

Jeremiah 4 : 1 - If you will return, O Israel, says Jehovah, if you wilt return to me, and if you will put away tyour abominations out of my sight; then shall you not be removed; and you shall swear, As Jehovah lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. For thus say Jehovah to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to Jehovah, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Declare you in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow you the trumpet in the land: cry aloud and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities. Set up a standard toward Zion: flee for safety, stay not; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction. A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant. For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of Jehovah is not turned back from us( 8 ).

Habakkuk 2 : 1 - I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint. And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that reads it.

Strength through Weakness (New Testament)

Philippians 2 : 9 - Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even to death, yes, the death of the cross. Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2 Corinthians 12 : 8 - For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Strength through Weakness (Old Testament)

Psalm 18 : 1 - A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah, who spoke to Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: and he said, I love you, O Jehovah, my strength. Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from my enemies. The cords of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. The cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came upon me. In my distress I called upon Jehovah, And cried to my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry before him came into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations also of the mountains quaked And were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down; And thick darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly; Yes, he soared upon the wings of the wind. He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion round about him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, Hailstones and coals of fire. Jehovah also thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered his voice, Hailstones and coals of fire. And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; Yes, lightnings manifold, and discomfited them.

Psalm 50 : 9 - And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

Psalm 59 : 9 - Because of his strength I will give heed to you; For God is my high tower. My God with his lovingkindness will meet me: God will let me see my desire upon my enemies.

Psalm 62 : 11 - God has spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongs to God. Also to you, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness; For you render to every man according to his work.

Isaiah 40 : 29 - Have you not known? have you not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding. He gives power to the faint; and to him that has no might he increases strength.

Isaiah 57 : 13 - When you cry, let them that you have gathered deliver you; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he that takes refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.

Jeremiah 50 : 33 - Thus says Jehovah of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all that took them captive hold them fast; they refuse to let them go.Their Redeemer is strong; Jehovah of hosts is his name: he will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon. A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men. A sword is upon the boasters, and they shall become fools; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed. A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be robbed. A drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is a land of graven images, and they are mad over idols. Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wolves shall dwell there, and the ostriches shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities thereof, says Jehovah, so shall no man dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein. Behold, a people come from the north; and a great nation and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth. They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea; and they ride upon horses, every one set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, O daughter of Babylon. The king of Babylon has heard the tidings of them, and his hands wax feeble: anguish has taken hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail. Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd that can stand before me? Therefore hear you the counsel of Jehovah, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely they shall drag them away, even the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them. At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth trembles, and the cry is heard among the nations ( 46 End ).
