Talking with God my Maker (New Testament)

Matthew 6 : 5 - And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say to you, They have received their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret shall recompense you. And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him.

Matthew 6 : 9 - After this manner therefore pray. Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 7 : 7 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: for every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Mark 1 : 35 - And in the morning, a great while before day, he rose up and went out, and departed to a desert place, and there prayed. And Simon and they that were with him followed after him; and they found him, and say to him, All are seeking you. And he said to them, Let us go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also; for to this end came I forth. And he went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.

Luke 6 : 12 ( Matthew 10 : 2, Mark 3 : 16 ) - And it came to pass in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles: Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew, and Matthew and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor;

Luke 10 : 1 - Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come. And he said to them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.

Luke 11 : 1 - And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples. And he said to them, When you pray, say, Father, Hallowed be yourr name. Your kingdom come. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation.

Luke 18 : 1 - And he spoke a parable to them to the end that they ought always to pray, and not to faint; saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man: and there was a widow in that city; and she came often to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming. And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith. And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them? I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily.

John 4 : 1 - When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples), he left Judea, and departed again into Galilee. And he must needs pass through Samaria. So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph: and Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. There came a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus said to her, Give me to drink. For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food. The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.

John 14 : 13 - And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything in my name, that will I do.

John 16 : 33 - These things have I spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Acts 1 : 4 - he charged them.... to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, you heard from me: For John indeed baptized with water; but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.

Acts 1 : 12 - Then returned they to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh to Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey off. And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts 12 : 12 - And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary ....; where many were gathered together and were praying. And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but ran in, and told that Peter stood before the gate. And they said unto her, You are mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. And they said, It is his angel. But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed. But he, beckoning to them with the hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things to James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went to another place.

Talking with God my Maker (Old Testament)

Genesis 32 : 9 - And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O Jehovah, who said to me, Return to your country, and to your kindred, and I will do you good: I am not worthy of the least of all the lovingkindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have showed to your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two companies. Deliver me, I pray you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he come and smite me, the mother with the children. And you said, I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

Exodus 33 : 7 - Now Moses used to take the tent and to pitch it without the camp, afar off from the camp; and he called it, The tent of meeting. And it came to pass, that every one that sought Jehovah went out to the tent of meeting, which was without the camp. And it came to pass, when Moses went out to the Tent, that all the people rose up, and stood, every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the Tent. And it came to pass, when Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cloud descended, and stood at the door of the Tent: and Jehovah spoke with Moses. And all the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man at his tent door. And Jehovah spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his minister Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the Tent.

Numbers 14 : 20 - And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to your word.

Numbers 25 : 10 - And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. Wherefore say, Behold, I give to him my covenant of peace: and it shall be to him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.

1 Samuel 3 : 9 - Eli perceived that Jehovah had called the child. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call you, that you shall say, Speak, Jehovah; for your servant hears.

Psalm 5 : 1 - Give ear to my words, O Jehovah, Consider my meditation. Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; For to you do I pray. O Jehovah, in the morning shall you hear my voice; In the morning will I order my prayer to you, and will keep watch. For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: Evil shall not sojourn with you. The arrogant shall not stand in your sight: You hate all workers of iniquity. You will destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhors the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.

Psalm 6 : 1 - O Jehovah, rebuke me not in your anger, Neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; for I am withered away: O Jehovah, heal me; for my bones are troubled. My soul also is sore troubled: And you, O Jehovah, how long? Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul: Save me for your lovingkindness' sake. For in death there is no remembrance of you: In Sheol who shall give you thanks? I am weary with my groaning; Every night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; It waxes old because of all my adversaries. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For Jehovah has heard the voice of my weeping. Jehovah has heard my supplication; Jehovah will receive my prayer. All my enemies shall be put to shame and sore troubled: They shall turn back, they shall be put to shame suddenly.

Psalm 34 : 15 - The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open to their cry. The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles.( 18 } Jehovah is nigh to them that are of a broken heart, And saves such as are of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 72 : 12 - For he will deliver the needy when he cries, And the poor, that has no helper. He will have pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he will save. He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his sight: And they shall live; and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: And men shall pray for him continually; They shall bless him all the day long.

Psalm 102 : 1 - A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and pours out his complaint before Jehovah. Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, And let my cry come to you. Hide not your face from me in the day of my distress: Incline your ear to me; In the day when I call answer me speedily. For my days consume away like smoke, And my bones are burned as a firebrand. My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; For I forget to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning My bones cleave to my flesh. I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places. I watch, and am become like a sparrow That is alone upon the house-top. My enemies reproach me all the day; They that are mad against me do curse by me. For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping, Because of your indignation and your wrath: For you have taken me up, and cast me away. My days are like a shadow that declines; And I am withered like grass.

Psalm 106 : 23 - Therefore he said that he would destroy them, Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.Yes, they despised the pleasant land, They believed not his word, But murmured in their tents, And hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah. Therefore he swore to them, That he would overthrow them in the wilderness, And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations, And scatter them in the lands. They joined themselves also to Baal-peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead. Thus they provoked him to anger with their doings; And the plague broke in upon them. Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment; And so the plague was stayed. And that was reckoned to him for righteousness, To all generations for evermore. (31)

Psalm 138 : 3 - In the day that I called you answered me, you did encourage me with strength in my soul. All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Jehovah, For they have heard the words of your mouth. Yes, they shall sing of the ways of Jehovah; For great is the glory of Jehovah. Though the LORD be high, yet has he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knows afar off. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you wilt revive me: you shall stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerns me: your mercy, O LORD, endures for ever: forsake not the works of your own hands.

Proverbs. 1 : 33 - Whoso hearkens to me shall dwell securely, And shall be quiet without fear of evil. My son, if you will receive my words, And lay up my commandments with you; So as to incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry after discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: Then shall you understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God. For Jehovah gives wisdom; Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding: He lays up sound wisdom for the upright

Isaiah 8 : 1 - And Jehovah said to me, Take you a great tablet, and write upon it with the pen of a man, For Maher-shalal-hash-baz; and I will take to me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. And I went to the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said Jehovah to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz. For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria. And Jehovah spoke to me yet again, saying, Forasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son; now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks; and it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel. Make an uproar, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces; and give ear, all you of far countries: gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. ( 10 )

Daniel 6 : 5 - Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God. Then these presidents and satraps assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, King Darius, live for ever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counsellors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a strong interdict, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, save of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which alters not. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the interdict. And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled together, and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God. Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's interdict: Have you not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition to any god or man within thirty days, save to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which alters not. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regards not you, O king, nor the interdict that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to rescue him. Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no interdict nor statute which the king establishes may be changed. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Daniel, Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.

Daniel 9 : 4 - And I prayed unto Jehovah my God, and made confession, and said, Oh, Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keeps covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances; neither have we hearkened to your servants the prophets, that spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. O Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but unto us confusion of face.

Daniel 9 : 13 - As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Jehovah our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth. Therefore has Jehovah watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice. And now, O Lord our God, that has brought your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and has got renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. O Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and your wrath, I pray you, be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people are become a reproach to all that are round about us. Now therefore, O our God, heark to the prayer of your servant, and to his supplications, and cause your face to shine upon your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. O my God, incline your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not present our supplications before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies' sake. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name. And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God; yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And he instructed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give you wisdom and understanding. At the beginning of your supplications the commandment went forth, and I am come to tell you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.

Daniel 10 : 12 - Then said he to me, Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard: and I am come for your words' sake.

Asking, Petitioning, Interceding (New Testament)

Matthew 6 : 9 - After this manner therefore pray you. Our Father who are in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

John 9 : 31 - We know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and do his will, him he hears.

Romans 1 : 8 - First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.
For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you, always in my prayers making request, if by any means now at length I may be prospered by the will of God to come to you.

Romans 15 : 30 - Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; that I may be delivered from them that are disobedient in Judaea, and that my ministration which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints; that I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you find rest. Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

2 Corinthians 1 : 11 - you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.

Ephesians 6 : 18 ....with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints, And on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that you also may know my affairs, how I do, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with a love incorruptible.

Philippians 4 : 6 - In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4 : 2 - Continue stedfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving; withal praying for us also.

Colossians 4 : 12 - Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, salutes you, always striving for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. For I bear him witness, that he has much labor for you, and for them in Laodicea, and for them in Hierapolis. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas salute you. Salute the brethren that are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church that is in their house. And when this epistle has been read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that you also read the epistle from Laodicea.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 24 - Faithful is he that calls you, who will also do it. Brethren, pray for us. Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss. I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the brethren. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

2 Thessalonians 3 : 1 - Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also it is with you; and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for all have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that you both do and will do the things which we command. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.

Hebrews 3 : 7 - Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit said, To-day if you shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts. as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tried me by proving me, And saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart: But they did not know my ways; As I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.

James 4: 3 - You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it in your pleasures.

1 Peter 4 : 7 - But the end of all things is at hand: be therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:

1 John 5 : 14 - And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us: and if we know that he hears us whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

Revelation 5 : 6 - And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth. And he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Revelation 8 : 1 - And when he opened the seventh seal, there followed a silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels that stand before God; and there were given to them seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should add it to the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the censer; and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and cast it upon the earth: and there followed thunders, and voices, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven angels that had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

Asking, Petitioning, Interceding (Old Testament)

Genesis 18 : 23 - And the men turned from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before Jehovah.
And Abraham drew near, and said, Will you consume the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city: will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from you: shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? And Jehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake. And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to the Lord, who am but dust and ashes: peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: will you destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find there forty and five. And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty’s sake.

1 Samuel 1 : 9 - So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest was sitting upon his seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and wept sore.
And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a man-child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. And it came to pass, as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth. Now Hannah, she spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. And Eli said to her, How long will you be drunken? put away your wine from you. And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Jehovah. Count not your handmaid for a wicked woman; for out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation have I spoken hitherto. Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.

1 Kings 8 : 1 - Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ houses of the children of Israel, to king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion. And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up. And king Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude. And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim. For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves thereof above. And the staves were so long that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy place before the oracle; but they were not seen without: and there they are to this day. There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah, so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah. Then spoke Solomon, Jehovah has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. I have surely built you a house of habitation, a place for you to dwell in for ever. And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood. ( 14 )

Nehemiah 4 : 7 - ( Narrative continued from ' Kingdom AOK' ) But it came to pass that, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth; and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein. But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease. And it came to pass that, when the Jews that dwelt by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, You must return to us. Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set there the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. And I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not you afraid of them: remember the Lord, who is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses. And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one to his work. ( 9 Narrative continued under 'Fight for Right' )

Psalm 27 : 7 - Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When you said, Seek you my face; My heart said to you, Your face, Jehovah, will I seek. Hide not your face from me; Put not your servant away in anger: You have been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Jehovah will take me up. Teach me your way, O Jehovah; And lead me in a plain path, Because of my enemies. Deliver me not over to the will of my adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, And such as breathe out cruelty.

Psalm 55 : 1 - Give ear to my prayer, O God; And hide not yourself from my supplication. Attend to me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan, Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they cast iniquity upon me, And in anger they persecute me. My heart is sore pained within me: And the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then would I fly away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness. [Selah] I would haste me to a shelter From the stormy wind and tempest. Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue; For I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.

Psalm 99 ; 1 - Jehovah reigns; let the peoples tremble: He sits above the cherubim; let the earth be moved. Jehovah is great in Zion; And he is high above all the peoples. Let them praise your great and terrible name: Holy is he. The king’s strength also loves justice; You do establish equity; You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt you Jehovah our God, And worship at his footstool: Holy is he. Moses and Aaron among his priests, And Samuel among them that call upon his name; They called upon Jehovah, and he answered them. He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud: They kept his testimonies, And the statute that he gave them. You answered them, O Jehovah our God: You was a God that forgave them, Though you took vengeance of their doings. Exalt you Jehovah our God, And worship at his holy hill; For Jehovah our God is holy.

Psalm 109 : 1 - Hold not your peace, O God of my praise; For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me: They have spoken to me with a lying tongue. They have compassed me about also with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause. For my love they are my adversaries: But I give myself to prayer.

Proverbs 15 : 25 - Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow. Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words are pure. He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house; But he that hates bribes shall live. The heart of the righteous studies to answer; But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he hears the prayer of the righteous ( 29 )

Ecclesiastes 5 : 1 - Keep your foot when you go to the house of God; for to draw nigh to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil. Be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you upon earth: therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes with a multitude of business, and a fool’s voice with a multitude of words.

Song of Songs 1 : 6 - Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, Where you feed your flock, Where you make it to rest at noon: For why should I be as one that is veiled Beside the flocks of your companions? If you know not, O you fairest among women, Go your way forth by the footsteps of the flock, And feed your kids beside the shepherds’ tents. ( 8 )

Isaiah 37 : 14 - And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah. And Hezekiah prayed to Jehovah, saying, O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, that sits above the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. Incline your ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open your eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the living God. Of a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the countries, and their land, and have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them. Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Jehovah, even you only. ( 21 ) Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word which Jehovah has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. Whom have you defied and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel. By your servants have you defied the Lord, and have said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir-trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field; I have digged and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt. Have you not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? now have I brought it to pass, that it should be yours to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps. Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as a field of grain before it is grown up. But I know your sitting down, and your going out, and your coming in, and your raging against me. Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogancy is come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came. And this shall be the sign to you: you shall eat this year that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs of the same; and in the third year sow you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof. And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this. Therefore thus says Jehovah concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come to this city, says Jehovah. For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake. And the angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh. And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.

Jonah 2 : 1 - Then Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly. And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction to Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And you heard my voice. For you did cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All your waves and your billows passed over me. And I said, I am cast out from before your eyes; Yet I will look again toward your holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed upon me for ever: Yet have you brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God. When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in to you, into your holy temple. They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah ( 9 ).
