A - What The Maker's Manual says -

Using Time ( New Testament )

Matthew 9 : 37 - Then says he to his disciples, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.

John 7 : 30 - They sought therefore to take him: and no man laid his hand on him, because his hour was not yet come. But of the multitude many believed on him; and they said, When the Christ shall come, will he do more signs than those which this man has done?

Acts 20 : 22 - And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: save that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But I hold not my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20 : 36 - And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down and prayed with them all. And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they brought him on his way to the ship.

Romans 1 : 13 - And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come to you (and was hindered hitherto), that I might have some fruit in you also, even as in the rest of the Gentiles. I am debtor both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are in Rome.

2 Corinthians 6 : 1 - And working together with him we entreat also that you receive not the grace of God in vain for he says, At an acceptable time I hearkened to you, And in a day of salvation did I succor you: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Ephesians 5 : 15 - Look therefore carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Hebrews 3 : 7 - Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, To-day if you shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tried me by proving me, And saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart: But they did not know my ways; As I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God: but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin: for we are become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end: while it is said, To-day if you shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Using Time - Old Testament

Job 7 : 6 - My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, And are spent without hope. Oh remember that my life is a breath: My eye shall no more see good. The eye of him that sees me shall behold me no more; Your eyes shall be on me, but I shall not be. As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away, So he that goes down to Sheol shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, Neither shall his place know him any more. Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Am I a sea, or a sea-monster, That you set a watch over me? When I say, My bed shall comfort me, My couch shall ease my complaint; Then you scare me with dreams, And terrifiest me through visions: So that my soul chooses strangling, And death rather than these my bones. I loathe my life; I would not live alway: Let me alone; for my days are vanity.

Psalm 31 : 15 - But I trusted in you, O Jehovah: I said, You are my God. My times are in your hand: Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make your face to shine on your servant: Save me in your lovingkindness. Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; For I have called upon you...

Psalm 89 : 47 - Oh remember how short my time is: For what vanity have you created all the children of men! What man is he that shall live and not see death, That shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? [Selah] Lord, where are your former lovingkindnesses, Which you swore to David in your faithfulness? Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants; How I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty peoples, Wherewith your enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of your anointed. Blessed be Jehovah for evermore. Amen, and Amen.

Psalm 90 : 9 - For all our days are passed away in your wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh. The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away. Who knows the power of your anger, And your wrath according to the fear that is due unto you? So teach us to number our days, That we may get us a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 102 : 26 - They shall perish, but you (God The Maker) shall endure; Yes, all of them shall wax old like a garment; As a vesture shall you change them, and they shall be changed:

Psalm 118 : 24 - This is the day which Jehovah has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, we beseech you, O Jehovah: O Jehovah, we beseech you, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that comes in the name of Jehovah: We have blessed you out of the house of Jehovah. Jehovah is God, and he has given us light: Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will give thanks to you: You are my God, I will exalt you. Oh give thanks to Jehovah; For he is good; For his lovingkindness endures for ever. (29 - all)

Proverbs 19 : 21 - There are many devices in a man’s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand.

Ecclesiastes 3 : 1 - For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. What profit has he that works in that wherein he labors? I have seen the travail which God has given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith. He has made everything beautiful in its time: also he has set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good so long as they live. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God (13).

Isaiah 42 : 14 - I have long time held my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry out like a travailing woman; I will gasp and pant together. I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools. And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them ( 17 ).

Isaiah 49 : 8 - Thus says Jehovah, In an acceptable time have I answered you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages: saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture. They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water will he guide them. And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted ( 11 ) saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture. Lo, these shall come from far; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for Jehovah has comforted his people, and will have compassion upon his afflicted. But Zion said, Jehovah has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.

Isaiah 66 : 7 - Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man-child. Who has heard such a thing? who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? shall a nation be brought forth at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? says Jehovah: shall I that cause to bring forth shut the womb? says your God. Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn over her; that you may suck and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that you may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus says Jehovah, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and you shall suck thereof; you shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 12 : 23 - Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision fails? Tell them therefore, Thus says the Lord Jehovah: I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say to them, The days are at hand, and the fulfilment of every vision. For there shall be no more any false vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel. For I am Jehovah; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed; it shall be no more deferred: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I speak the word, and will perform it, says the Lord Jehovah. Again the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he sees is for many day to come, and he prophesies of times that are far off. Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord Jehovah: There shall none of my words be deferred any more, but the word which I shall speak shall be performed, says the Lord Jehovah.

Ezekiel 24 : 15 - Also the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet neither shall you mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of your head upon you, and put on your shoes upon your feet, and cover not your lips, and eat not the bread of men. So I spoke to the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. And the people said to me, Will you not tell us what these things are to us, that you do so? Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came to me, saying, Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left shall fall by the sword. And you shall do as I have done: you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: you shall not mourn nor weep; but you shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another. Thus Ezekiel is to you a sign: according to all that he has done shall you do: and when this comes, you shall know that I am the Lord GOD. Also, you son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, That he that escapes in that day shall come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears? ( 27 End ) In that day shall your mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more dumb: and you shall be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Amos 9 : 13 - Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them on their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them, says Jehovah thy God.

Temporariness, Uncertainty ( New Testament )

1 Corinthians 7 : 29 - But this I say, brethren, the time is shortened, that henceforth both those that have wives may be as though they had none; and those that weep, as though they wept not; and those that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and those that buy, as though they possessed not; and those that use the world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passes away.

Hebrews 11 : 13 - These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own. And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared for them a city.

Hebrews 11 : 32 - And what shall I more say? for the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens.
Women received their dead by a resurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth. And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

Hebrews 12 : 13 - These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Hebrews 12 : 28 - See that you refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warns from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he has promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain. Wherefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and awe: for our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 13 : 13 - Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us therefore go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after the city which is to come. Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

James 4 : 13 - Come now, you that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. But now you glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil. To him therefore that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

1 Peter 1 : 1, 17 - Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect who are sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied .... And if you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear: knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, even the blood of Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

2 Peter 1 : 12 - Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though you know them, and are established in the truth which is with you. And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified to me. Yes, I will give diligence that at every time you may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.

2 Peter 3 : 3 - knowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come with mockery, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God; by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

1 John 2 : 17 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides for ever

Temporariness, Uncertainty ( Old Testament )

Genesis 13 : 1 - And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai, to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah. And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

Leviticus 25 : 8 - And you shall number seven sabbaths of years to you, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty and nine years. Then shall you cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall you make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile to you; and you shall return every man to his possession, and you shall return every man to his family. A jubile shall that fiftieth year be to you: you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. For it is the jubile; it shall be holy to you: you shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. In the year of this jubile you shall return every man to his possession. And if you sell ought to your neighbour, or buy ought of your neighbour’s hand, you shall not oppress one another: According to the number of years after the jubile you shall buy of your neighbour, and according to the number of years of the fruits he shall sell to you: According to the multitude of years you shall increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years you shall diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits does he sell to you. You shall not therefore oppress one another; but you shall fear your God: for I am the LORD your God. Wherefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and you shall dwell in the land in safety. And the land shall yield her fruit, and you shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. And if you shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. And you shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in you shall eat of the old store.( 23 ) And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is mine: for you are strangers and sojourners with me. And in all the land of your possession you shall grant a redemption for the land.

1 Chronicles 17 : 1 - And it came to pass, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Look, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah dwells under curtains. And Nathan said to David, Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you. And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying, Go and tell David my servant, Thus says Jehovah, You shall not build me a house to dwell in: for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another. In all places wherein I have walked with all Israel, spoke I a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, Why have you not built me a house of cedar? Now therefore thus shall you say to my servant David, Thus says Jehovah of hosts, I took you from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel: and I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a name, like to the name of the great ones that are in the earth. And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first, and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Jehovah will build you a house. And it shall come to pass, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who shall be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my lovingkindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you; but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David. Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Jehovah God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? And this was a small thing in your eyes, O God; but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Jehovah God. What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? for you know your servant. O Jehovah, for your servant’s sake, and according to your own heart, have you wrought all this greatness, to make known all these great things. ( 20 ) O Jehovah, there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. And what one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and terrible things, in driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed out of Egypt? For your people Israel did you make your own people for ever; and you, Jehovah, became their God. And now, O Jehovah, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established for ever, and do as you have spoken. And let your name be established and magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and the house of David your servant is established before you. For you, O my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house: therefore has your servant found in his heart to pray before you. And now, O Jehovah, you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant: ( 27 End ) and now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue for ever before you: for you, O Jehovah, have blessed, and it is blessed for ever.

Job 29 : 1 And Job again took up his parable, and said, Oh that I were as in the months of old, As in the days when God watched over me; When his lamp shined upon my head, And by his light I walked through darkness; As I was in the ripeness of my days, When the friendship of God was upon my tent; When the Almighty was yet with me, And my children were about me; When my steps were washed with butter, And the rock poured me out streams of oil!   When I went forth to the gate to the city, When I prepared my seat in the street, The young men saw me and hid themselves, And the aged rose up and stood; The princes refrained from talking, And laid their hand on their mouth; The voice of the nobles was hushed, And their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth. For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

Psalm 84 : 5 - Blessed is the man whose strength is in you; In whose heart are the highways to Zion. Passing through the valley of Weeping they make it a place of springs; Yes, the early rain covers it with blessings.

Psalm 119 : 17 - GIMEL. Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live; So will I observe your word. Open you my eyes, that I may behold Wondrous things out of your law. I am a sojourner in the earth: Hide not your commandments from me. My soul breaks for the longing That it has to your ordinances at all times. You have rebuked the proud that are cursed, That do wander from your commandments. Take away from me reproach and contempt; For I have kept your testimonies Princes also sat and talked against me; But your servant did meditate on your statutes. Your testimonies also are my delight And my counsellors.(24)

Psalm 144: 3 - LORD, what is man, that you take knowledge of him! or the son of man, that you make account of him! Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passes away. Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. Send your hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; Whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

Proverbs 27 : 1 - Boast not yourself of tomorrow; For you know not what a day may bring forth. Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; A stranger, and not your own lips. A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; But a fool's vexation is heavier than they both. Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy?

Ecclesiastes 5 : 15 - As he came forth from his mother's womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he that he labors for the wind? All his days also he eats in darkness, and he is sore vexed, and has sickness and wrath.

Ecclesiastes 6 : 1 - There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is heavy upon men: a man to whom God gives riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God gives him not power to eat thereof, but an alien eats it; this is vanity, and it is an evil disease. If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul be not filled with good, and moreover he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he: for it comes in vanity, and departs in darkness, and the name thereof is covered with darkness; moreover it has not seen the sun nor known it; this has rest rather than the other: yes, though he live a thousand years twice told, and yet enjoy no good, do not all go to one place?

Amos 3 : 9 - Publish you in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults are therein, and what oppressions in the midst thereof. For they know not to do right, says Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: An adversary there shall be, even round about the land; and he shall bring down your strength from you, and your palaces shall be plundered. Thus says Jehovah: As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed. Hear you, and testify against the house of Jacob, says the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts. For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground. And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, says Jehovah.

Punctuality ( Old Testament )

Proverbs 3 : 27 - Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Say not to your neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when you have it by you.

Ecclesiastes 5 : 4 - When you vow a vow to God, defer not to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools: pay that which you have vowed. Better is it that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay.

Hebrews 3 : 7 - Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost says, To day if you will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast to the end; While it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
