Vindication (New Testament)

Acts 16 : 39 - But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, Let those men go. And the jailor reported the words to Paul, saying, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore come forth, and go in peace. But Paul said to them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? No verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out. And the sergeants reported these words to the magistrates: and they feared when they heard that they were Romans; and they came and besought them; and when they had brought them out, they asked them to go away from the city. And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

Romans 12 : 17 - Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as in you lies, be at peace with all men. Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to the wrath of God: for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will recompense, says the Lord. But if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire upon his head.

Hebrews 10 : 30 - For we know him that said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

1 Peter 2 : 19 - For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endures griefs, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when you sin, and are buffeted for it, you shall take it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For hereto were you called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps: who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:

Revelation 18 : 20 - Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you saints, and you apostles, and you prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her. And a strong angel took up a stone as it were a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with a mighty fall shall Babylon, the great city, be cast down, and shall be found no more at all. And the voice of harpers and minstrels and flute-players and trumpeters shall be heard no more at all in you; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft, shall be found any more at all in you; and the voice of a mill shall be heard no more at all in you; and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in you; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in you: for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery were all the nations deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all that have been slain upon the earth.

Revelation 20 : 5 - The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: over these the second death has no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Vindication (Old Testament)

Genesis 27 : 41 - And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then will I slay my brother Jacob. And the words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah. And she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, Behold, your brother Esau, as touching you, comforts himself, purposing to kill you. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice. And arise, flee to Laban my brother to Haran. And tarry with him a few days, until your brother's fury turn away. Until your brother's anger turn away from you, and he forget that which you have done to him. Then I will send, and fetch you from thence. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?

Genesis 34 : 25 - And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city unawares, and slew all the males. And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went forth. The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister. They took their flocks and their herds and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field; and all their wealth, and all their little ones and their wives, took they captive and made a prey, even all that was in the house. And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and, I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and smite me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?

2 Samuel 10 : 1 - And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead. And David said, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon. But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Think you that David does honor your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? has not David sent his servants to you to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it? So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away. When they told it to David, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return. And when the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men. And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men. And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field. Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians: And the rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon. ( 11 ) And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will come and help you. Be of good courage, and let us play the man for our people, and for the cities of our God: and Jehovah do that which seems him good. So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh to the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him. And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem. And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they gathered themselves together. And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head. And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him. And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians the men of seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, so that he died there. And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.

2 Samuel 22 : 44 - You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people; You have kept me to be the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me: As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me. The foreigners shall fade away, And shall come trembling out of their close places. Jehovah lives; And blessed be my rock; And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, Even the God that executes vengeance for me, And that brings down peoples under me, And that brings me forth from my enemies: Yes, you lift me up above them that rise up against me; You deliverme from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to you, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises to your name. Great deliverance gives he to his king, And shows lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.

Psalm 18 : 47 - Even the God that executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me. He rescues me from my enemies; Yes, you lift me up above them that rise up against me; You deliver me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to you, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises to your name. Great deliverance gives he to his king, And shows lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.

Psalm 26 : 1 - Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in my integrity: I have trusted also in Jehovah without wavering. Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me; Try my heart and my mind. For your lovingkindness is before my eyes; And I have walked in your truth. I have not sat with men of falsehood; Neither will I go in with dissemblers. I hate the assembly of evil-doers, And will not sit with the wicked. I will wash my hands in innocency: So will I compass your altar, O Jehovah; That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, And tell of all your wondrous works.

Psalm 27 : 2 - Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. Though a host should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, Even then will I be confident. One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion: In the covert of his tabernacle will he hide me; He will lift me up upon a rock. And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Jehovah.

Psalm 43 : 1 - Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: Oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man. For you are the God of my strength; Why have you cast me off? Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Oh send out your light and your truth; Let them lead me: Let them bring me to your holy hill, And to your tabernacles. Then will I go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And on the harp will I praise you, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Proverbs 20 : 22 - Say not, I will recompense evil: Wait for Jehovah, and he will save you.

Proverbs 24 : 28 - Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause; And deceive not with your lips. Say not, I will do so to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.

isaiah 13 : 3 - And it shall come to pass in the day that Jehovah shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your trouble, and from the hard service wherein you wer made to serve, that you shall take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, How has the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! Jehovah has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers; that smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained. The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing. Yes, the fir-trees rejoice at you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since you are laid low, no hewer is come up against us. Sheol from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming; it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall answer and say to you, Are you also become weak as we? are you become like to us?Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, and the noise of your viols: the worm is spread under you, and worms cover you.

Isaiah 22 : 20 - And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: and I will cloth him with your robe, and strengthen him with your girdle, and I will commit your government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a throne of glory to his father’s house. And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the flagons. In that day, says Jehovah of hosts, shall the nail that was fastened in a sure place give way; and it shall be hewn down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for Jehovah has spoken it.

Isaiah 49 : 24 - Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered? But thus says Jehovah, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contends with you, and I will save your children. And I will feed them that oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunk with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, am your Saviour, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Isaiah 50 : 8 - He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? let us stand up together: who is my adversary? let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord Jehovah will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up. Who is among you that feareth Jehovah, that obeyeth the voice of his servant? he that walketh in darkness, and hath no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah, and rely upon his God. Behold, all you that kindle a fire, that gird yourselves about with firebrands; walk you in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. This shall you have of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.

Isaiah 54 : 17 - No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness which is of me, says Jehovah.

Isaiah 66 : 3 - He that kills an ox is as he that slays a man; he that sacrifices a lamb, as he that breaks a dog’s neck; he that offeres an oblation, as he that offers swine’s blood; he that burns frankincense, as he that blesses an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations: I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spoke, they did not hear: but they did that which was evil in my eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not. Hear the word of Jehovah, you that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hate you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, have said, Let Jehovah be glorified, that we may see your joy; but it is they that shall be put to shame. A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of Jehovah that renders recompense to his enemies. Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man-child. Who has heard such a thing? who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? shall a nation be brought forth at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? says Jehovah: shall I that cause to bring forth shut the womb? says your God.( 10 ) Rejoice you with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn over her; that you may suck and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that you may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus says Jehovah, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and you shall suck thereof; you shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. And you shall see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass: and the hand of Jehovah shall be known toward his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies( 14 ).

Jeremiah 51 : 10 - Jehovah has brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of Jehovah our God. Make sharp the arrows; hold firm the shields: Jehovah has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes; because his purpose is against Babylon, to destroy it: for it is the vengeance of Jehovah, the vengeance of his temple. Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set the watchmen, prepare the ambushes; for Jehovah has both purposed and done that which he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon. O you that dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures, your end is come, the measure of your covetousness. Jehovah of hosts has sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill you with men, as with the canker-worm; and they shall lift up a shout against you. He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens: when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries. Every man is become brutish and is without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. ( 19 ) The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Jehovah of hosts is his name.

Daniel 3 : 26 - Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace: he spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, you servants of the Most High God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego came forth out of the midst of the fire. And the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power upon their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their hose changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.

Micah 7 : 7 - But as for me, I will look to Jehovah; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, Jehovah will be a light to me.

Micah 7 : 9, 13, 17 - I will bear the indignation of Jehovah, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Then my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said to me, Where is Jehovah your God? My eyes shall see my desire upon her; now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets. A day for building your walls! in that day shall the decree be far removed. In that day shall they come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt even to the River, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. Yet shall the land be desolate because of them that dwell there, for the fruit of their doings..... They shall lick the dust like a serpent; like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their close places; they shall come with fear to Jehovah our God, and shall be afraid because of you.

...the way He does it....

He gets His GigaGuy or GigaGal to forgo their seeming right of revenge. This relieves them from cramping, corrosive bitterness and stops feuding in its tracks.

Then God The Maker undertakes to protect the wronged one and see them right. The power of faith kicks in, allowing God The Maker's authority to bear on the real problem.

This brings God The Maker fully into the situation guarding the eventual good of both the parties.

Things get pretty tough
