A - What The Maker's Manual says --

Win by Losing (New Testament)

Matthew 5 : 39 - but I say to you, resist not him that is evil: but whoever smites you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Matthew 5 : 41 - And whoever shall compel you to go one mile, go with him two.

Luke 6 : 27 - But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.To him that smites you on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that takes away your cloak withhold not your coat also.

Luke 6 : 40 - The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher. And why behold you the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me cast out the mote that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote that is in your brother's eye.

Romans 3 : 27 - Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? No: but by a law of faith.-

Ephesians 2 : 8 - for by grace have you been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, that no man should glory. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.

Win by Losing (Old Testament)

Genesis 26 : 15 - Now all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth. And Abimelech said to Isaac, Go from us; for you are much mightier than we. And Isaac departed thence, and encamped in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham; and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. And the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him. And they digged another well, and they strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now Jehovah has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. And he went up from thence to Beer-sheba. And Jehovah appeared to him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham your father: fear not, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

2 Chronicles 26 : 16 - But when he (Uzziah the king) was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Jehovah his God; for he went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense. And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of Jehovah, that were valiant men: and they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, It pertains not to you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Jehovah, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Jehovah God.Then Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the altar of incense. And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from thence; yes, himself hasted also to go out, because Jehovah had smitten him. And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

Job 17 : 1 - My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me. Are there not mockers with me? and does not my eye continue in their provocation? Lay down now, put me in a surety with you; who is he that will strike hands with me? For you have hid their heart from understanding: therefore shall you not exalt them. He that speaks flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail. He has made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret. My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow. Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. But as for you all, do you return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart. They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness. If I wait, the grave is my house: I have made my bed in the darkness. I have said to corruption, You are my father: to the worm, You are my mother, and my sister. And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it? They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

Psalm 62 : 3 - How long will you set upon a man, That you may slay him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah]

Proverbs 13 : 10 - The light of the righteous rejoices; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. By pride comes only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.

Proverbs 16 : 18 - Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that gives heed to the word shall find good; And whoso trusts in Jehovah, happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increase learning. Understanding is a well-spring of life to him that has it; But the correction of fools is their folly. The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, And adds learning to his lips.

Proverbs 22 : 4 - The reward of humility and the fear of Jehovah Is riches, and honor, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: He that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

Isaiah 50 : 5 - The Lord Jehovah has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting. For the Lord Jehovah will help me; therefore have I not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

Lamentations 3 : 24 - Jehovah is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Jehovah is good to them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it upon him. Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope. Let him give his cheek to him that smites him; let him be filled full with reproach. For the Lord will not cast off for ever. For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approves not. ( 36 )

Daniel 5 : 18 - O you king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty: and because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts', and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that he sets up over it whomsoever he will. And you his son, O Belshazzar, havet not humbled yourheart, though you knew all this, but has lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, have you not glorified.

Sacrifice, Submission (New Testament)

Romans 12 : 11 .... in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Ephesians 5 : 21 - subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ. Wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loves his own wife loves himself: for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also the church; because we are members of his body. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church. ( 33 ) Nevertheless do you also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.

Philippians 2 : 17 - Yes, and if I am offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all: and in the same manner do you also joy, and rejoice with me. But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly to you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

Hebrews 5 : 1 - For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity; and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no man takes the honor to himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron. So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spoke to him, You are my Son, This day have I begotten you:

Hebrews 10 : 1 - For the law having a shadow of the good things to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh. Else would they not have ceased to be offered? because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance made of sins year by year. For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he came into the world, he said, Sacrifice and offering you would not, But a body did you prepare for me; In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure:

Sacrifice, Submission (Old Testament)

Leviticus 1 : 1 - And Jehovah called to Moses, and spoke to him out of the tent of meeting, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When any man of you offers an oblation to Jehovah, you shall offer your oblation of the cattle, even of the herd and of the flock. If his oblation be a burnt-offering of the herd, he shall offer it a male without blemish: he shall offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before Jehovah. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the burnt-offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before Jehovah: and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall present the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is at the door of the tent of meeting. And he shall flay the burnt-offering, and cut it into its pieces. And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay wood in order upon the fire; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall lay the pieces, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: but its inwards and its legs shall he wash with water. And the priest shall burn the whole on the altar, for a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. And if his oblation be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt-offering; he shall offer it a male without blemish. And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before Jehovah: and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall sprinkle its blood upon the altar round about. And he shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat; and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: but the inwards and the legs shall he wash with water. And the priest shall offer the whole, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. And if his oblation to Jehovah be a burnt-offering of birds, then he shall offer his oblation of turtle-doves, or of young pigeons. And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be drained out on the side of the altar; and he shall take away its crop with the filth thereof, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, in the place of the ashes: and he shall rend it by the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder. And the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah.
